Suffolk New College was privileged to welcome back award-nominated author Dr Ashley Hickson-Lovence, writer of The 392, Wild East and About to Fall Apart 📚

He spoke to students from our Hair and Beauty, Sport, and Uniformed Public Services courses, thanks to the Ipswich Book Festival's pledge to bring an author to every school in Ipswich during Schools Week.

His message was one of resilience and the power of each student's unique voice, encouraging them to take the risk to try something, write something, as the first step to realising their dreams ✍️

This October, we are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, while around 400 men are diagnosed each year in the UK. Early detection is key to saving lives, so check your chest every month.

Symptoms to watch for include a new lump or thickening in the breast or armpit. Other changes can include changes in size or shape, skin dimpling, or ni**le discharge.

Whether you're young or old, cancer doesn't discriminate. Get to know your chest, and if you notice anything unusual, get it checked!
