Is your child unable to attend school?

Perhaps you've been told they need to "just attend", that EOTAS is "impossible", or that the Local Authority simply won't fund it.

Yet every day I speak to families whose children are unable to access school due to their special educational needs, mental health, anxiety, trauma, or medical needs.

The problem is that most parents are left trying to navigate a complex legal process with little or no guidance.

Not every family can access advocacy, legal support or a solicitor.

That's why I've created the SENDHelp EOTAS Roadmap Pack

This isn't just a guide.

It's a complete practical toolkit designed to help you understand your rights, build your case, challenge refusals and navigate the process from first request through to Tribunal appeal if necessary.

Inside you'll find:

✅ A complete plain-English guide to EOTAS and the legal framework

✅ A fully completed EOTAS proposal example

✅ An editable EOTAS proposal template

✅ Completed SEND Tribunal grounds of appeal examples

✅ Editable appeal templates

✅ A fully costed EOTAS package template

✅ An 8-stage EOTAS roadmap and action plan

✅ Guidance on finding and commissioning tutors, therapists and specialist providers

✅ Ready-to-use email templates

Whether you're just starting to explore EOTAS or you're preparing for a SEND Tribunal appeal, this pack has been designed to give you the knowledge, tools and confidence to advocate for your child.

📢 New Government Guidance on School Attendance - What Parents Need to Know

The Department for Education has published new guidance for schools on how they should communicate with parents about attendance, and there are some important messages for families.

✅ Schools are expected to work with parents, not against them.
✅ Attendance conversations should be supportive, empathetic and focused on understanding barriers.
✅ Schools should discuss concerns early rather than waiting for attendance to become a significant issue.
✅ Communication should be personalised to the child and family, rather than relying on generic letters.
✅ Schools should explain the wider benefits of attendance, including wellbeing, friendships and belonging not just academic attainment.
✅ Families should be clearly signposted to support where attendance difficulties exist.

The guidance recognises that attendance challenges are often complex and that building positive relationships between schools and families is key to improving attendance.

For SEND families, this is particularly important. Attendance concerns should never be viewed in isolation from a child’s needs, disabilities, mental health, anxiety, unmet provision, or suitability of placement.

Attendance is everyone’s responsibility, but support should always come before blame.

Have you found your child’s school supportive when discussing attendance difficulties? Let me know in the comments. 👇
