Over the last few weekends, an amazing team of staff, trustees, volunteers and members have been hard at work emptying, dismantling and clearing out our old storage sheds

Thanks to the generous funding from The Bagley Trust and an anonymous donor, we've installed brand-new, insulated storage to keep all our instruments and equipment safe and dry.

It's all set up, fully packed and ready to go for our return in September. Remember, if you haven't already, now's the time to re-register. 🎹

Huge congratulations! 🥳

🏆🎉 Huge congratulations to our incredible City & County Youth Orchestra on winning the Large Ensemble Award at the 2026 Buxton Festival Fringe Awards! 🎶✨

Following their outstanding performance earlier this month under the baton of Harry Lai, this award recognises the hard work, dedication and excellence of every young musician, alongside the unwavering support of tutors, staff and families.

What an incredible achievement—we couldn't be prouder! 💙👏

We might have broken up for summer, but some of our team are still making music!

We were thrilled by how many SEDMC members were representing our music centre this week at the Derbyshire City and County Youth Orchestra and the Derby and Derbyshire Schools Orchestra!
Rehearsals in the beautiful grounds of Denstone College followed by superb performances in Buxton and Repton.
We’re so proud of the achievements of our members representing our centre at this high level.
The next residential for these orchestras will be in February 27! Watch this space!

What an incredible way to wrap up the year! Saturday was our annual Summer Festival, and we couldn't be prouder of every single group that took the stage. You all sounded amazing! 🎶🎉
