🌟 Student Success 🌟

We are incredibly proud of one of our students who has shown outstanding initiative, determination, and community spirit by helping to organise a fundraising challenge in support of local athletics facilities.

Alongside fellow young athletes, they set out to raise funds to support improvements to their athletics stadium. The event has been a huge success, raising over £3,000, with participants collectively running an incredible 278 kilometres.

This remarkable achievement demonstrates the power of teamwork, dedication, and young people making a positive difference in their community. Well done to everyone involved for their hard work and commitment to such a worthwhile cause. 👏🏃‍♀️🏃

🎭 Shrek Rehearsals Are Back! 🎭

Shrek rehearsals are back in full swing this week!

📅 Thursdays: After school until 4:45pm
📅 Fridays: During the whole-school enrichment session

🎬 Rehearsal schedules are available to collect from Mrs Lowe in A4.

We can't wait to get back to working on this fantastic production and look forward to seeing everyone involved as we continue bringing the magic of Shrek to the stage! 🌟

Lunchtime teething problems

It has been great to welcome everyone back today and see students adapting so positively to lots of changes across school.

We did experience some unexpected teething issues at lunchtime, including a temporary problem with one of the new tills, which unfortunately increased queueing times. We also underestimated demand at the new catering pod, meaning some food options ran out sooner than expected. (Students impacted were still able to access food from the canteen)

The till issue was resolved during lunchtime and we are already adjusting food quantities, service timings and arrangements for tomorrow.

A reminder that hot food is available from the canteen, while grab-and-go food is available from the catering pod.

We will continue to listen, learn and adapt over the coming days as we optimise the new service. Thank you to our students for their patience today!

🌟 WHAT A START TO YEAR 11! 🌟

Our Year 11 students are safely back from PGL after a brilliant few days together – and what a way to begin their final year at OIEA!

From canoeing, climbing and the Quick Jump to axe throwing, Archery Tag, and survival skills - our students have challenged themselves, strengthened friendships and made memories that will last long beyond Year 11.

More importantly, they have set the tone for the year ahead. The attitude, togetherness and positivity they have shown has been fantastic. 💪

A huge thank you to our brilliant staff who gave up time with their own families (and plenty of sleep!) to make the residential possible. Experiences like this simply don't happen without staff willing to go above and beyond for our students. ❤️

Now our attention turns to Monday.

🎯 Every Year 11 student back by 8.25am.
💯 Start the year with 100% attendance.
🏆 Our challenge: become the best-performing year group ever to leave OIEA.

After last year's record-breaking results, that's some challenge – but we believe this group has the potential to do it.

For now, students and staff have definitely earned a good night's sleep!

🍽️ LUNCHTIME FOOD – WHAT’S AVAILABLE & WHERE?

We’ve made some changes to our lunchtime catering offer to help reduce queues, speed up service and make the best use of our available space. Menu's will be communicated weekly and can be found on our website,

🔴 CANTEEN – HOT FOOD
The canteen has two serving areas:
🍴 Main Counter – hot meals, vegetarian options and daily specials
🥔 Deli – pasta pots, jacket potatoes and similar hot deli options
🥤 Drinks and 🍰 desserts are also available.

Due to capacity, only students purchasing hot food should enter the canteen.

🔴 FOOD HUT – GRAB & GO
Our new Food Hut is located behind B Block and serves:
🥪 Sandwiches
🥖 Paninis
🍕 Pizza slices
🥤 Drinks
🍰 Desserts and other grab-and-go items

👉 Grab-and-go food is not available from the canteen.
👉 Hot food is not available from the Food Hut.

🥪 BRINGING A PACKED LUNCH?
Students with packed lunches should eat outside with their friends. When the weather becomes colder or wetter, we will open the hall as an additional indoor eating space.

🎉 A fantastic first day for our new Year 7s!

Today, students began their OIEA journey with their first Morning Address, learned about our CARE values – Courage, Ambition, Respect and Excellence – and took part in our special Year 7 Tie Ceremony.

They learned about our expectations and routines, received their timetables and equipment, explored how we learn at OIEA and spent time getting to know their Form Tutors.

They were absolutely brilliant, and we’re incredibly proud of the way they approached their first day. 👏

Now it’s time to welcome back Years 8 and 10 tomorrow!

🚨 THEY MADE HISTORY! 🚨

Today, we could not be prouder to celebrate our incredible Year 11 students, who have achieved the best GCSE results in the history of Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy. ❤️🎓

They have made history, raised the bar for those who follow and left a legacy of which they should be immensely proud.

📈 Some incredible headlines:

🎉 68% achieved a Grade 4+ in both English and Maths – our highest ever
🎉 49% achieved a Grade 5+ in both English and Maths – our highest ever
🎉 An average grade of 4.4 – the best ever achieved by Ilkeston students

These results are a testament, first and foremost, to the hard work, determination and resilience of our students. They also reflect the fantastic support of parents and carers and the extraordinary commitment of our dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly to give our young people every opportunity to succeed. 👏❤️

To our departing Year 11 students: we cannot wait to see where life takes you next. Whatever path you choose, continue to set your sights high, work hard and never allow your circumstances to place a limit on your ambitions. 🌟

Today is proof of just how much you are capable of achieving.
