This summer holiday, try our Garden Word Hunt game to practise literacy skills with your child. π³π
(This game can also be adapted to play indoors.)
Materials Needed:
Index cards or paper
Markers
Tape or string
Small prizes (optional)
How to Play:
1. Write words on index cards or pieces of paper. The words can vary in difficulty depending on the age group. You can focus on specific themes (e.g. animals, nature or garden-related words) or choose random words.
2. Place the word cards around a garden or in a park. You can tape them to trees, tuck them into bushes or hang them from branches with string. Make sure they are visible but not too easy to find.
3. Your child (or children if theyβre playing with friends or family) can now hunt for the words.
4. After collecting the words, ask your child to read each word aloud (or as a group if playing with siblings or friends). Discuss the meanings of the words and then practise using them in sentences.
If your child needs help with their literacy or any aspect of their English school work, contact us on +44 7865 858058 or [email protected]. to book your FREE skills assessment.
