Meet Izzy! 👋
Izzy is currently completing her placement on Ward 1 at Dewsbury Hospital as part of her Level 3 Health and Social Care course.
When asked about her favourite part of placement, Izzy said:
“I love meeting different patients and learning about their lives and experiences. I also enjoy learning medical terminology and expanding my knowledge.”
Izzy is in the first year of her studies and will complete 90 placement hours this academic year. She’ll continue her placement journey in September during her second year, where she’ll gain experience on a different ward.
We are incredibly proud of you Izzy! ⭐

Have a read about our past T Level student, Lillie-Mai, and her journey to working as a Healthcare Support Worker at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust! ⭐

Meet Lillie-Mai 👋

She started her journey with us as a T Level student and now works full-time.

"I'm a Healthcare Support Worker, based in Outpatients at Dewsbury and District Hospital. I chaperone and take patients physical observations, such as blood pressure, height and weight. I alternate between clinics daily, so I get to gain a variety of knowledge, varying between general surgery, oncology, and colorectal.

I studied a T Level in Adult Nursing at Kirklees College Health & Social Care - Huddersfield, which allowed me to complete a placement on ward 12, elective surgery at Dewsbury. I gained valuable experience which I am now able to put into practice at work daily.

The advice I would give to someone wanting to do the same role is to ensure they have qualities such as good communication, patience and compassion, as these are what make a good healthcare support worker."

You can read Lillie-Mai's story and find out more about her role on our website https://buff.ly/Wnk0a7N

Student spotlight ⭐ Peppa is studying Level 2 Health and Social Care and recently completed a placement at Oaklands Health Centre working with a Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist. Peppa commented, “I absolutely loved it and I was given so many new opportunities to learn skills. I was able to speak to so many different people and learn about different illnesses. Lydia was amazing with me and explained everything, I am going to apply for a job there when I am 18!”
The manager said Peppa was “very outgoing and developed great relationships with both the staff and patients and she would always make them feel at ease”. Well done Peppa, we are all very proud of you!
