Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
I pray you are all well
For the last year, by the grace of Allah we have organised regular classes for children in Huddersfield to educate them about the Islamic faith in a manner which is engaging to their young little minds and proves transformational in building their Muslim identity.
Alhamdulillah we have completed sessions on the Stories of the Prophets, Arabic Classes and the Ramadan Qur'an Circle. This has been a wonderful experience for all teachers, parents and children involved. We have seen how their minds are stimulated by the Prophetic biographies and how to engage them through play, crafts and group work.
From the experience of our own children, nephews and nieces, we have noticed that all children learn differently. Some children find it difficult to develop a relationship with the Qur'an via online classes and other children are simply too tired to learn about their faith after a long day at school during the weekdays.
Consequently, our next step is to explore whether there is enough interest to launch a new 'Weekend Madrasa' in Huddersfield for children. After much thought and consultation, as well as curriculum planning, we hope this can be an important endeavour for our local community inshaAllah.
Our intention is to run the Madrasa on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-11am during term time (3 semesters in a year). The curriculum goes beyond the traditional 'sit and read' model. We hope to cover the following:
1. Qur'an pronunciation and rules of articulation (tajweed)
2. Writing the Qur'an as a methodology to memorise and beautify the words of Allah (SWT)
3. Learning the Qur'an through the traditional method of direct oral transmission (talqeen) whereby an instructor recites a word or verse, and the student listens closely and repeats it back
4. Working through the essentials of faith as related to belief (aqidah), law (fiqh) and spirituality (tazkiyah)
5. Further enrichment activities to promote Sunnah sports and activities where the children can connect together outside the classroom format
Our two main teachers are DBS compliant and have authorization (ijazah) in the Qur'an from qualified, reputable teachers in the Muslim world. We will also partner with supportive and knowledgeable community members who understand the needs of the Huddersfield Muslim community and can assist to bring this endeavor to fruition inshaAllah
InshaAllah starting Saturday 12th September from 9am-11am (first session will be induction with parents)
Target audience: Children aged 5-8 years of age
Venue: Multi-functional Educational Space, 11 Hanson Lane, Huddersfield HD4 5HL
Cost per week will be £10 per child

This form is for anyone considering a new 'Weekend Madrasa' option for their child — whether they're not currently enrolled anywhere, or are open to something different. If your child is already happy and settled elsewhere, there's no need to fill this in, but you're welcome to if you'd simply like to see what's on offer.
It takes 2 minutes to complete and simply helps us gauge demand before we finalise plans to start in the second week of September 2026 inshaAllah. Please note nothing here is a booking or commitment
