Due to school trips and fun days I have had a couple of quieter days to work trough some of the maths problems in these books of exam style questions by Olivia Press Education . It really is a well thought out excellent collection of questions with great tips in boxes next to questions, clear worked examples, mark schemes and answer pages - very useful for tutors and students. I ordered these books one Friday afternoon and was delighted when they turned up in the morning the next day. Excellent customer service!

What’s been your biggest investment this year and are you considering any new equipment purchases?
My big investment this year was buying Polydron. I did have some magnetic shapes for building 3D shapes and doing work on nets but there were so many times I missed having hexagons, Octagons and pentagons. Getting Polydron triangles, squares and pentagons was easy the rest has been a constant checking back on eBay and vinted especially to get a decent collection of rectangles. I may have blown the original budget when I did ship some from America but I think I have enjoyed using this as much as my students have.

I always love looking at the middle isle in Aldi and yesterday couldn’t resist these magnetic numbers with symbols. Just had to buy two sets so I could use them for fractions. I loved that there were colons for ratio questions. Twinkl Private Tutors

Inspired by my students who have been working so hard to master skills they find challenging I attempted to start the challenge I set myself at New Year of trying recipes where I cook from scratch instead of relying on jars of sauce and cake mixes. Today I made lamb tagine from the The Hairy Bikers cookbook and scones from a bbc good food recipe. The scones taste great and the tagine smells good - just waiting for it to cool. ( Thank you to my friend Jane for all her encouragement).
