2 Years Sober
Today marks my second full year of being completely sober.
20th October 2019 was a low point in my life when I had to face facts and admit I had a problem. This was something that I had known for a number of years, but I was not willing to admit there was an issue.
I had lost control of my ability to responsibly enjoy nights out/socialising and this was putting other parts of my life under some real stress. During this time, my actions were negatively impacting both my physical and mental health, work, relationships and home life.
Luckily, with the support of my wife, a close group of friends and some professional support, I was able to make some significant changes in my life for the better.
2 years later and I can honestly say this was the best decision I have ever made. It was difficult to face up to an issue that is normalised in our culture, however if you are struggling, there will always be people there to help.
I was unsure whether to post this for obvious reasons, however it's a milestone that I am proud of and it is also something that I think should be talked about more often.
