2nd multi angle edit with this learner doing Teddy Picker by Arctic Monkeys.
Didn't have too much time to get all this done but came out pretty well for the limited time we did have.
2nd multi-angle edit (Teddy Picker)
This is the 2nd one we're doing, Arctic Monkeys "Teddy Picker". We're using a backing track with the guitars omitted so its us playing the parts. Sounds quit...

The 2nd multi angle edit this learner has done, put a 4th angle in to make it more interesting. This song is quite hard to play so I'm pleased with how it came out. We can now play all 4 drop b songs from the album now.
Learner edited video (You Be Tails I'll Be Sonic)
Done this song before but it was just the one angle. Now doing it again with another learner and its got 4 angles for your viewing pleasure. This is a pretty...
Now using my strat with the room setting on the reverb pedal. Don't know what this style is, maybe jazz fusion with some neo soul and r&b influences?
Chords sound nice though, 7ths and other extended ones.
Room reverb test (You're On My Mind)
Using the strat with the room reverb setting for a bit of Tom Misch's "On My Mind". Got some nice jazzy chords going on here, and some interesting voicings (...
Practicing the solo from the song "Vacation" by Simple Plan which featured in the 2004 film New York Minute.

Next multi angle edit is "Sad But True" with this learner who's playing the solo.

Another song I thought was in a standard kinda tuning but its in drop d with 2 other strings tuned down.
Finally figured out the tuning - Yamaha FG800m post setup test (The Only Exception)
Did another test with the newly setup FG800m. This is another song I just assumed was in normal standard tuning but it turned out it isn't, after watching li...
This month officially marks my FIFTEENTH year as a guitar tutor. Honestly I didn't think I'd be doing this for 1 year let alone 15.
Have learnt alot along the way, developed as a musician and human and met some great people who've become very good players.
Thanks to all my learners (past and present) for making this possible.
Here's to another 15 perhaps 🎉

For years and years I always assumed this song was just played in eb standard tuning. Only when I saw their guitarist playing it live did I discover the 5th string is also tuned down a whole tone and he's using the middle 4 strings mainly. Now it sounds like the original!
Using my AKG P170 condenser this time to test a learner's newly setup Yamaha FG800m.
Yamaha FG800m post-set up test (Live in a Hiding Place)
Decided to take some more clips post-setup. For years I used to assume this song was in Eb standard tuning but only when I watched a live performance by the ...
His dad wanted a Metallica song so we did one (that the learner picked, of course).

This edit was requested by this learner's dad (well, he said a Metallica one but the learner chose the actual song). It's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'. The orig...
First edit with this learner doing "Treasure" by Bruno Mars.
Came out well as we didn't have alot of time to get things perfect.

Had another learner's acoustic set up (Yamaha FG800m). Action too high, nut not filed correctly and frets not smooth.
We sorted this out and now the guitar plays beautifully.
Here's a test clip playing a cover version of "Castle on the Hill".
Another learner guitar setup (Castle On The Hill cover)
I took another learner's guitar for a setup. His Yamaha FG800m which had high action around the 12th fret, rough frets and the nut incorrectly filed. Even I ...
For the next song my learner did the edit for this as he's quite handy with video editing software. Did a really good job and alot better than how I would have done.
Might make a few more of these.
Learner did this edit (The Is The House That Doubt Built)
Next drop b song is This Is The House That Doubt Built which we decided to do a multi-angle edit for. I've done this song with another learner but it was onl...

Another go at the multi-angle thing (Boyce Avenue cover)

Decided to make the next video a multi angle edited one as I start to get to grips with using Premiere Pro.
For the next song we filmed 3 angles and I edited it after. Took a bit longer than the usual single shot one but more interesting to watch and its still live.
May do a few more of these actually 🤔
First multi-angle video with learner (The Plot To Bomb The Panhandle)
For the next song we're doing I decided to do the multi-angle thing again to make it more interesting to watch as the single one is ok but doesn't allow for ...

First Bruno Mars song as he's a big fan. Using my Telecaster as well, it's not played enough and sounds great for those funk tones. Might have to use it for the next one.

Did this song before on acoustic with another learner so nice to play this on electric with some nice 7th chord voicings. We have almost learnt 10 songs now which is great progress after 3 months of lessons. Well done 👏
Good to do this one on electric (Hold On We're Going Home)
Another one I've done before but on acoustic guitar and capo'd with open shapes. Now I'm doing this on electric with some nice 7th chord voicings with a bit ...

Staying on the Clavish vibes by doing Day Date. Two main parts evolving round 2 chords.
Next one by Clavish (Day Date)
Keeping the same artist theme going with Clavish's "Day Date". I arranged this so there's two parts, the chords and the 2 note keyboard (or it might be somet...
Done this song before but only on acoustic using a capo and playing open shapes.
Now doing it on electric with fretted 7th chords which sounds more like the original. Hard to keep that consistent 16th note going too.

Can't believe we learnt how to play this on guitar😆What even is this?! Having to use a 'clean' version as the lyrics aren't exactly PG. Arranged to play with two chords but in 2 parts, picking and strumming.
Learner Progress clip (Rocket Science)
The next song is by artists Clavish and D-Block Europe. We had to use a PG friendly clean version of the track as the lyrics aren't exactly child appropriate...
Done this song a few times but either on acoustic or we didn't record the whole tune.
Also had a go playing the guitar solo, which was originally played by Eric Clapton. Sorry Eric for messing up some of the phrases.
Good playing overall though.
3rd learner progress clip (Dive)

My modifications/upgrade project on my first ever electric guitar is now up on the Feline Guitars 'Featured Spotlight' section on their website.
Here they detail what exactly was done to my Squier Strat I got when I was a young teenager some 25 odd years ago.
A massive thank you to the team for making a dream a reality.
Spotlight:Spending money and upgrading a Guitar you'd never sell
People often wonder if spending money on a guitar that they own but would never sell - maybe it was a first guitar or one with strong sentimental attachment, is foolish or a good move. Whilst certainly spending heavily on a guitar that you aim to sell soon may be unwise if you are spending extra mon...
A new guitar day for this learner as he's got a nice new LTD EC256 setup for drop tunings.
Now we can play a bit lower than drop c and get more songs down 👌
Also the last time I did this song a few of the octaves weren't right. We've fixed that now.
NGD for this learner, second time playing the song (Homesick)
It's a new guitar day (well, lesson) for this learner as he's got a new LTD EC-256 guitar set up with 12-56's for drop tuning. So now we can play in drop b a...
Using the strat to play this one. Got a nice reverb effect going on too. Not all the lead parts are correct but I tried to get as many of them as I could. Learner is holding down all the chordal harmony which sounds solid.
Popular one and good song to play (Walkaway)
Enjoyed learning to play this one, "Walkaway" is a popular tune off the All Change album, had a hard time deciding which guitar to use to play the lead parts...
Next song with this learner who started about 6 months ago. Couldn't play at all before starting.

Trying out this learner's DIMAVERY strat copy.
These are super budget beginner starter guitars. Didn't expect alot from the pickups but the clean tone is surprisingly ok!
Playing "Forget Me" by Lewis Capaldi that he also performed live at the Brit Awards 2023.
Nice chord progression and use of extensions in the voicings.
DiMavery strat copy test (Forget Me)
This is a learner's strat copy by a brand called "DiMavery". I believe the company are German who make starter budget guitars. These retail for about £95 sec...
