We are excited to share that our Christian value for Term 1 is Compassion.

Throughout this term, we will be learning what it means to show compassion by noticing when someone needs help, caring about how they feel and taking action to make a positive difference.

We are also delighted to introduce Ellie the Elephant 🐘, our new

Compassion Mascot! Ellie will be helping us to remember our three important words:

NOTICE • CARE • ACT

As part of our focus on compassion, staff will be looking out for children who consistently demonstrate this value in their everyday actions.

At the end of the term, one child from each class will receive our Compassion Award. Their parents/carers will be invited to join us for a special worship so that we can celebrate their achievement together.

We hope that Ellie will inspire our whole school community to look for opportunities to show kindness, care and compassion every day.

Our question for the term is:
“How have you shown compassion today?”

Please find our Compassion poster attached, which you can talk about with your child at home.

Thank you for helping us to make compassion a part of everyday life at school and at home.

⚽🌟 What an incredible experience for our pupils!

24 children from Years 3, 4 and 5 had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Monster KickAbout at The Gallagher Stadium alongside football legend Jill Scott!

Our pupils represented the school brilliantly throughout the event, showing great teamwork, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.

To make the day even more memorable, the children came away with Nike football boots, a T-shirt and goody bags!

A huge thank you to Monster KickAbout, Nike and Sports Direct for their generosity and for providing such an amazing experience for our children. Memories that will last a lifetime! 💙⚽

We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news! 🎨✨

Four of our children’s wonderful pieces of artwork have been selected to be exhibited at Stephen Oliver Art Gallery and will also be part of an auction raising money for Beams.

A huge congratulations to:

What an amazing achievement for our talented pupils! We loved seeing all of the artwork submitted and are so proud of everyone who took part.

The opening event will take place on 4th June, with more details to follow nearer the time.

⚽ What a fantastic day for Team Horton Kirby at this year’s Trust Football Tournament on the last Thursday of term!

Our Year 3 and 4 team represented the school brilliantly, showing determination, teamwork and excellent sportsmanship throughout the competition. Highlights included fantastic wins against Saint George’s, Sutton-at-Hone and Stone St Mary’s, with some brilliant goals and outstanding teamwork on display.

After an exciting day of football - including a tense penalty shootout - the team secured an incredible 4th place finish out of 13 schools! We are so proud of every player for their effort, attitude and the way they represented Horton Kirby both on and off the pitch.

A huge thank you to our parents and families for all of their support and encouragement throughout the day. 👏⚽💙

Another sneak peak of our Bear!

Our bear has officially set off on its adventure. After being beautifully varnished, carefully packaged, and prepared for the journey ahead, it’s now on its way to its secret spot on the Bear Trail this summer.

Last week, we were lucky enough to welcome Lisa from to Horton Kirby, where she presented us with a big cheque celebrating the amazing £2,464.41 we have raised as a school through our We’re Going on a Bear Hunt fundraising activities.

This is a fantastic achievement for our whole school community, and we are incredibly proud and grateful to everyone who supported us in raising money for such a wonderful cause.
