Greenway Junior School

Last Friday, our Greenway team attended the annual Spelling Bee.

We competed in Heat 1 alongside 11 other schools and came 3rd, with two of our
pupils making it to the final four contestants. By that stage, the spellings had reached
secondary school level, exceptionally challenging!

Our team showed excellent teamwork, resilience and competitive spirit throughout.
Well done to all our participants, you've done Greenway Junior School proud!

Selected Year 3 and 4 children were invited to The Bridge last week to take part in a carousel of activities including cricket, baseball, rounders and stoolball, learning key skills such as batting techniques, fielding positions and tactical gameplay. Every single one of you showed excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and determination throughout the day.

You were an absolute credit to Greenway, well done!

Greenway Rock Band Shines at Skoolfest!

Our amazing Greenway Rock band took part in Skoolfest last week, a fantastic
celebration of young musical talent! Steve worked incredibly hard preparing the band, and they were absolutely brilliant on the day.

Well done to everyone who took part, you represented Greenway superbly and we are really proud of you!

Sports betting has become increasingly visible online, appearing across apps, websites, social media, sports coverage and gaming spaces.

PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS ANNOUNCEMENT
With the 6 week-long series of workshops beginning in schools next week, we thought that you'd like to know which of our district's 21 incredible schools are taking part this year.

Well done to our Year 6 Sports Captains for brilliantly representing Greenway by helping at Trafalgar's Sports Day before half term!

The children did a fantastic job assisting pupils and staff throughout the day, showing excellent leadership, responsibility and kindness.

We're incredibly proud of how they supported the younger children and contributed to making the event such a success.

The Reading Ambassadors had a fantastic time at Waterstones before half term! The children enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate in the café and thoughtfully chose some wonderful new books for our classrooms. We’re sure these books will inspire even more reading across the school.

A big thank you to the PTA for raising the funds towards the books and hot chocolate, and thank you to Mrs Chilcott and Mr Rogers for accompanying the children and making this special trip possible.

Minecraft continues to be a highly popular platform for children, combining creativity, problem-solving and social interaction.

Mental Health Week - A Fantastic Success!

We're delighted to share that Mental Health Week was a fantastic success! We started the week with a wellbeing assembly themed around mental health, setting a positive and supportive tone for the days ahead. Throughout the week, classes have been exploring mental health topics through age-appropriate discussions, creative projects, and interactive sessions.

We were thrilled to participate in Wear It Green Day, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated online and brought donations into school. So far, we have raised £221!
