SPORTS DAYS. The children (and staff) had so much fun at our Sports Days this term. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and support. Well done to all the children for taking part and doing their best. 🎾🏐🏑

A big thank you to the Friends of Trafalgar for arranging and funding a wonderful end of term treat for our children last Friday. The day was thoroughly enjoyed and below are some of the children’s comments.
"I liked the wheels on the pedals because I had to balance"
"I liked the peacock feather and the balancing tricks"
"Spinning the plates around my leg was really fun."

The children have been enjoying their playtimes this week. Time to explore the playground and the play equipment. Practising throwing and catching, building walls and even performing and watching a show! Great imaginations and learning all the time. 😀

Emerald Green have been very lucky to see lots of tadpoles turn into froglets over the last few weeks. They have loved observing the changes and learning about how they go from breathing under water to needing air. They came up with suggestions of how we need to change their enclosure to give the froglets places to breathe. Mr Hallett released some by the golf course pond and Mrs Brown kindly took the late bloomers to a pond area need her house. In total we had 31 frogs, a great success and something we really enjoyed looking after.🐸

It was a hot one on Friday. The children were fantastic at keeping cool in the hot weather. We even enjoyed celebration assembly outside in the shade under the trees. ☀🌳

The Reception children had a wonderful time outside this week during their ‘Woodland Time’. They listened to the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ and made vegetable soups and pies in the mud kitchen. They went on a bug hunt, used sounds to write the names of different bugs, practised throwing skills, made impressions of leaves and sticks in salt dough and relaxed in the book area. 🐜🐞🪱🌿🍂☀️

This week and next week we are lucky enough to have Steve Martin in school delivering high level football coaching for the children for a day.
Steve is a very experienced coach who has coached at the highest level, working with England players Mason Mount and James Ward-Prowse.
The children were put through their paces with some quick footwork drills and ball work, great for their coordination. They were showing their skills with inside and outside control as well as stopping the ball and keeping it close to their feet. All staff were very impressed with the children's resilience in the heat and with the professionalism of Steve. We look forward to having him back in the near future! ⚽️

Some children have been very creative when using Lego in their group work this week with Mrs Bolton, they have explored lots of aspects of Science and Maths. Building a sabre toothed tiger, a steam engine and even a pop up toaster. Their problem solving and critical thinking skills are growing and everyone’s enjoying practising their turn taking awareness and expressing themselves creatively. The children continue to imagine new ideas in their roles as engineers, suppliers and builders and have already suggested creating dream homes, amusement parks and water filtration systems in the future. Everything really is awesome!

Thank you so much for the parent volunteers who painted our fencing in the Reception Garden in their own time at a weekend. It is so bright and colourful and looks amazing. Thank you for contributing to our school.😀

Thank you so much to all our parents, carers and staff for making our Jubilee celebration day at Trafalgar amazing. The children had a wonderful day learning about The Queen, Royal themed activities and a lovely Jubilee picnic and much more. Here are some photos of our special day. 🇬🇧👑

This week Reception children had their first school trip.
All the children were so well behaved and were a real credit to the school.
They had a lovely day, seeing and meeting all sorts of farm animals and stroking some of the smaller ones. They had a bumpy tractor ride and enjoyed watching the pig race. Finally, they climbed and chased each other, slid down the tall slides, played in the sandpit and swung on the monkey bars. 🐄🐖🐑🐏🐇

Jubilee Flower Bed 🇬🇧
Thank you Reception parents/carers for your enormous generosity in donating plants to our project.
The children were all very green fingered. We will be getting them involved in watering and dead heading to promote new flower growth.
We hope the whole school community will enjoy watching the colours on our Union Jack and Crown flower bed develop over the coming weeks.

Our new reading shed is in action on the playground, the children have been exploring the books at lunchtime with their friends.
Thank you to the Friends of Trafalgar School (FTS) for raising money for these, and thank you to all of parents and carers who have supported the FTS fund raising events when they are able to. 📘📕📒

Our Learning Council enjoyed their visit to Greenway Academy on Friday 8th March, where they carried out research to find out how the children learn there. This has given them ideas about how we can make the learning even better at Trafalgar.

'Let's Get Creative Day'

'Let's Get Creative Day'

The children and staff had a wonderful 'Let's Get Creative Day' at school this week. The children travelled to different countries around the school and created some amazing art work.

Last week Ruby Class took part in tie dyeing for their class treat after filling their jewel jar. The children absolutely loved the process of planning, prepping and tie dyeing an item of clothing each. Everyone had lots of fun and some super team work, sharing
of ideas and wonderful concentration as the children created their own unique work of art to wear!

Thank you to everyone that made a donation on ‘Wear a Hat Day’. We raised an incredible £257.20 and saw some wonderful headwear!

After the clocks went forward this weekend and Spring has officially begun, Year 2 have been spotting signs of Spring within Trafalgar school. The children loved sketching different Spring signs they could see in our woodland area such as daffodils, blossom and minibeasts. 🌱🌸🐜

The reception garden was in full swing last week, the reception children were having fun using the balance boards, hoppers and all the resources available to encourage them to learn through play.😄

The children really enjoyed their Silly Science Workshops last week. They particularly loved seeing how the force of air made the toilet roll unravel.

WEAR A HAT DAY 🎩🧢👒🎓⛑
***Friday 25th March***
The children and staff are invited to wear a hat to school for a donation to the Brain Tumour Research Event. This charity is something important to us at Trafalgar as we have members of our school and local community who have sadly been affected. We would like to show our support to them and others by supporting this event.

Year 1 had a great time outside last week using the trundle wheel to measure how long dinosaurs were and also used salt dough to make their own fossils.

RED NOSE DAY
Thank you to everyone who brought in a donation for Red Nose Day. We raised a grand total of £187.48. Thank you 😃

Just before half term Turquoise Class had fun making some yummy biscuits 🐞

For our bodies and bones topic, this week Year 1 have been looking at the effects of different drinks on teeth. We used eggs instead of teeth because of the calcium in their shell. We have written our predictions and we can't wait to find out if we are correct!
Emerald PE Lesson. Synchronising.

In Emerald class PE lessons this week they have been working on star poses and working in a pair synchronising. Check out some of their moves in these photos.

The Reception children enjoyed making bird feeders in their garden time. The children used apples and sunflower seeds to create food for the birds during the winter time. The children have been outside bird watching this week and have seen a Blue tit enjoying the sunflower seeds.
