🎭✨ LIMELIGHT ARTS ACADEMY… WHO ARE WE? ✨🎭

Limelight Arts Academy is a friendly, inclusive and affordable local stage school, with classes in Hornsea, Skirlaugh and Brandesburton.

We welcome children and young people from across the town and surrounding villages to discover the magic of the performing arts, learning new skills, making friendships, building confidence and, most importantly, having LOTS of fun along the way! 🌟

💛 OUR STORY

Limelight began with a friendship!

Lisa and Amy first met back in 1997 at Wyke College, where their performing arts adventures began. Years later, their paths crossed again, Lisa having built her own successful dance academy and Amy having spent her career teaching performing arts in schools.

Together, they brought their experience, enthusiasm and love of theatre to Limelight… and we’ve been growing ever since! 🎭

🌟 WHAT DO WE DO?

Our students can take part in LAMDA Acting, Devising and Musical Theatre, working towards recognised exams and showcases.

Our Musical Theatre and Drama students also get the incredible experience of working towards TWO BIG MUSICALS every year! 🎶🎬

Last year we brought the magic of Disney’s Frozen JR. ❄️ and Disney’s Newsies JR. 🗞️ to the stage…

We especially love the beautiful traditional proscenium arch stage at Brandesburton, giving our young performers the chance to experience the excitement of performing on a real stage, developing confidence, stagecraft and memories that will last a lifetime. ✨

Behind Limelight is a fantastic team of dedicated staff and volunteers who all share the same goal:

To give local children high-quality, inclusive and affordable opportunities to experience the performing arts.

And inclusion really matters to us. 💛

Did you know that we’ve been fortunate to receive HAF funding from ERYC, allowing children eligible for free school meals to attend our annual Panto Camp FREE of charge? 🎭

We’re incredibly proud that this support has helped us make Limelight even more accessible to children within our community.

Bitter Sweet!
We would like to say a massive thank you to Emily for all her contributions over the years. As one of our original limelighters, she progressed onto being one of our valued helpers during productions and rehearsals. We wish you well in your next adventure and look forwards to hearing all about it! We will all miss you dearly, you’ve been absolutely fantastic with the children and your choice of degree could not be more perfect for you. Good luck you lovely human! We know you’ll smash it ###

Guaranteed fabulous fun and delicious product makes at the October Half Term Cookery Workshop 😋

🍂 Autumn Seasonal Cookery Workshop (Ages 9+) 🍂
Wednesday 28th October
10:00am – 3:00pm
Hornsea Town Hall
Join us for a fun-filled day of autumn cooking!
Young cooks will enjoy a hands-on day learning practical kitchen skills while preparing a delicious seasonal menu using fresh autumn ingredients.
Throughout the workshop each pair will prepare:
🍛 Autumn Vegetable Curry
🍚 Fluffy Rice
🥧 Homemade Pumpkin Pie
🍎 Apple & Bramble Jam (2 jars)
Children will learn a range of cooking techniques including:
Safe knife skills
Peeling and chopping vegetables
Measuring and weighing ingredients
Making pastry using the rubbing-in method
Simmering and seasoning
Cooking perfect rice
Jam making and preserving (with adult supervision)
At the end of the day every child will take home the food they've prepared to enjoy with family.
Suitable for children aged 9 years and over
£30 per child

🎭✨ PANTO WEEK IS HERE! ✨🎭
🤩 Our favourite week of the year has arrived, and we couldn't be more excited! With a bumper cast packed full of incredible young talent, Mother Goose is ready to take to the stage!
