A solar PV system does not always stop completely when something is wrong.

It may continue generating electricity while producing less than expected because of an inverter issue, damaged cabling, a faulty isolator, increased shading or a problem with monitoring equipment.

Warning lights, error messages or unexplained changes in energy bills should also be investigated.

Older systems may need a broader assessment, particularly where original components are no longer supported or maintenance records are limited.

RSUK Group inspects domestic and commercial solar PV systems, diagnoses faults and explains whether repair, replacement or further monitoring is the most beneficial next step.

If your system is showing an error or appears to be generating less than expected, speak to our team to arrange an assessment.

Lighting can change how a renovated home looks, feels and functions every day. Yet it often receives less attention than flooring, kitchens or paint colours during the early planning stages.

Leaving lighting decisions until electrical work has started can limit your options. Moving a light fitting later may mean altering ceilings or disturbing finished surfaces. Adding another switch could require new cabling after walls have already been plastered.

Good lighting planning starts before those decisions become difficult to change.
A successful scheme considers how each room will be used and where people will need light. It should also take furniture layouts into account. From there, you can decide where fittings and controls should be placed.

This article explains how to plan lighting during a home renovation. It covers the different types of lighting, positioning, controls and installation costs. It also explains when to involve your electrician.

Learn how to plan lighting for a home renovation, including light positioning, switches, dimmers, colour temperature, bathroom lighting and installation costs.

Lighting is often chosen near the end of a renovation, even though it affects how every part of the finished room looks, feels and functions.

The best lighting plans begin with how the space will be used and making decisions before ceilings, walls and finishes are completed gives the electrical contractor the ability to position cables and fittings correctly.

Leaving those decisions until later in the processcan result in visible alterations or additional cost.

RSUK Group works with homeowners to plan and design lighting that fits the property and supports the way each room is used.

If you are preparing for an extension or wider renovation, speak to our team before the final layout is agreed.

A commercial solar PV installation was recently completed at a property in Chelmsford.

The new 41.65kW system includes 70 x 595W Astronergy Solar panels and a SolaX Power 40kW inverter, providing the business with a substantial source of on-site renewable energy.

The system was installed, tested and commissioned before handover and will help reduce reliance on the grid while supporting more efficient energy use across the site.

If you are considering solar PV for your property, we work across commercial, industrial and domestic properties.

Fire alarms and emergency lighting form an important part of fire safety within commercial premises. However, installing the right systems is only the beginning. Businesses also need to make sure those systems remain suitable and continue to operate correctly.

In England and Wales, fire safety duties for most non-domestic premises fall under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The law places responsibilities on the person who has control of the premises. This person is known as the Responsible Person.

The exact fire precautions required will depend on the building and the risks identified through its fire risk assessment. This means there is no single fire alarm or emergency lighting specification suitable for every business.

For those responsible for commercial buildings, understanding these duties is essential.

This article explains the responsibilities surrounding fire alarms and emergency lighting. It also covers routine testing, professional maintenance and what to do when faults arise.

Understand your commercial fire alarm and emergency lighting responsibilities, including testing, servicing, records and choosing a competent contractor.
