Ready to conquer Year 7? 🚀

Moving up to secondary school is a huge step, but having the right setup makes all the difference! Here is your ultimate day-one checklist to feel confident, organized, and ahead of the game:

Year 7 Survival Checklist

Scientific Calculator: Get familiar with key functions like fractions, powers, and roots early on.

Tech Essentials: Keep your laptop charged and phone synced for homework portals and online learning tools.

Stationery & Backpack: Stock up on highlighters, pens, a sturdy ruler, and a durable bag to keep everything organized.

Fresh Kicks: Break in those new school shoes ahead of time so you stay comfortable walking between classes.

At Moss Tutoring, we help new secondary students build strong study habits, master tough subjects, and feel fully prepared from day one.

To the GCSE Class of 2026: The wait is officially over! 📑✨

Huge congratulations to everyone opening those envelopes today. Whether you got the exact grades you wanted or completely surpassed your own expectations, celebrate your hard work today! You have navigated an incredibly intense exam season, and you should be so proud of your resilience. 🎓🎉

But what if that envelope didn’t hold the numbers you were hoping for?

First: take a deep breath. 🕊️

Your GCSE results are a milestone, but they do not define your potential or your future success. If you need to retake a subject to get into your chosen college course, sixth form, or apprenticeship, remember that this is just a temporary detour. You are not starting from scratch, you are starting from experience. 🎯

At Moss Tutoring, we are already setting up our tailored support plans for the upcoming resit cycles.

We focus on:
✅ Pinpointing exactly where those dropped marks happened
✅ Breaking down tricky exam techniques and mark schemes
✅ Rebuilding your academic confidence so you can walk into the next exam feeling unstoppable

The journey doesn't stop here, it just shifts gears. Let’s get you exactly where you want to be. 🚀

🔗 Want to secure your spot for autumn resit prep? Click the link in our bio to book a consultation, or drop us a DM with the word 'RETAKE' and let’s chat about your next steps!...

Who’s excited for the eclipse this evening? Have you managed to get some special glasses or will you use a colander or another (safe) way of seeing it? However you view the eclipse, we hope you have a great experience with your child(ren) and remember not to look directly at the sun ☀️

Does anyone remember the eclipse of 1999?!

Hello!

As it's the summer holidays I thought I'd use this opportunity to re-introduce myself, whether you're new around here or have known me for years.

So. My name is Branka and I have been a teacher for 10+ years, and have owned and run Moss Tutoring for three years now. What initially started as an English and Maths tuition service, I decided to solely focus on Maths two years ago as it was a subject I was interested in and enjoyed teaching the most.

I completely stepped out of the classroom in September last year to become a content creator for my Dad's business Moss Jaguar as well as to focus more on Moss tutoring.

Did you know that I wanted to become a Classics teacher when I was 16 years old? I have a degree in Classics from Royal Holloway, University of London, but life had aother plans and so I tried to work my way into management at Waitrose, which is also where I met Mr S

We are back in the recording studio! Summer doesn’t mean a complete stop for us at Moss Tutoring, but it’s a perfect time to catch up on admin and in this instance, back to recording YouTube videos.

You may have seen that we recently made all of the SATS paper walkthrough videos recorded over the last couple of years have now gone live (link in story) so do please have a look if you have a child about to do their SATS.

We will be filming more videos over the summer as and when time allows, so do keep an eye out for those too!

Another one from our bingo card... make a Maths board game!

Have fun creating your own board - check out Pinterest or Google Images for some ideas, and then the real challenge begins - what will you put on each square? This one is aimed at Upper Key Stage 2 and has some good prompts of where to start. If you have younger children, why not think about number bonds to ten or twenty? Don't forget to include some other actions such as rolling again or moving forward a space and so on, to help keep the game competitive and fun.

You could even use mine as a starting point and then fill in the rest yourself - what would you put into the missing squares? Let me know in the comments!
