🎉 Celebrating Another Year of Success at Undershaw! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to celebrate another fantastic year of GCSE, BTEC and Functional Skills results at Undershaw Education Trust! 🌟

Our students have achieved excellent outcomes across a wide range of subjects, including:

📚 100% achieved Grade 5+ in GCSE English and Computer Science
🔬 100% achieved Grade 4+ in GCSE Combined Science and Geography
👏 83% achieved Grade 6+ in GCSE English
🏛️ 80% achieved Grade 5+ in GCSE History, with some students exceeding their target grades by up to four grades
➗ 60% achieved Grade 4+ in GCSE Maths
🎨 100% of students achieved or exceeded their target grades in BTEC qualifications, including Art, Media and Home Cooking
🎓 Two Post-16 students achieved the top EPQ grades of A and B

A special congratulations goes to some of our highest achievers and those who made exceptional progress:

⭐ Seb achieved an outstanding set of results, including one Grade 9, two Grade 8s, two Grade 7s and a BTEC Level 2 Merit — exceeding his target grade in every subject!

⭐ Molly achieved fantastic results, including two Grade 7s, three Grade 6s and a BTEC Level 2 Distinction.

⭐ Reece achieved strong passes across the board, exceeding his target grades by three grades in every subject.

We are also delighted that 42% of all GCSE grades awarded were Grade 6 or above — another significant achievement for our school community. 👏

Executive Headteacher Emma West said:

“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our students this year. Their results are a testament to their hard work, resilience and determination, as well as the strong partnerships between students, families and our dedicated staff.”

These results reflect the dedication of our students and the commitment of everyone who supports them. We are delighted to see students progressing into our Post-16 provision, further education, apprenticeships and training pathways.

Alumni news! 🎓

Very proud also of Ed who was one of the top achievers at Farnham College with his A* in History A Level…..(Matt can take some credit for giving Ed a great foundation with a grade 9 in GCSE History we think! 😉)

Ed is now off to Warwick University to study History! 👏👏👏 Fabulous! 🎓

Farnham College students have been celebrating their A-level results with a 94 per cent pass rate, up one per cent on last year.

While the school may be quieter during the summer holidays, our fantastic Site Team are as busy as ever! 🔨🏫

There are lots of planned improvement projects taking place across the site to ensure everything is looking its very best for the new academic year.

✨ Outside the Arts and Media Centre, the old, damaged paving slabs and deteriorated drains have been completely replaced with a smart new resin surface and new drain covers, creating a safer and more attractive entrance.

🎨 Our Dining Hall has also been given a fresh new coat of paint, along with the installation of bumper rails to help protect the walls from damage caused by tables. It’s looking incredibly smart!

🚧 Work is also underway to replace the existing wooden sleepers with new stone gabions, providing a much more robust and long-lasting soil retention system for our outdoor spaces.

A huge thank you to our dedicated Site Team for all of their hard work so far. There is still plenty more to come over the summer, including the regrouting of the swimming pool, as well as a new damp-proof course and new flooring in the Coach House.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to a school that is looking better than ever. Thank you to our Site Team for everything they do behind the scenes to keep our site safe, well-maintained and continually improving. 👏

☀️ 🐴For those who attended yesterday’s Sundial Festival, you may have spotted the gorgeous Robin and Molly – two miniature therapy horses!🐴 ☀️

Today, we were delighted to welcome them to Undershaw for a special visit, giving our students and staff the opportunity to spend time with these wonderful animals.

Robin and Molly are part of Lunar Eclipse EFL Therapy Horses, a non-profit organisation founded in 2024 and dedicated to sharing the joy and therapeutic benefits of non-ridden equestrian experiences. Run entirely by volunteers, the organisation creates inclusive and supportive environments where people of all ages and backgrounds can connect with horses through therapeutic sessions and educational workshops.

Their visit brought plenty of smiles, sparked curiosity, and provided a unique opportunity to experience the calming and therapeutic impact that animals can have on wellbeing. We are incredibly grateful to Lunar Eclipse Therapy Horses for spending time with us and sharing the amazing work they do. 🤍

✨ What a day at Sundial Festival 2026! ✨

A huge thank you to the Leo Lion Foundation for hosting such a fantastic event for our children and their families. It was a truly special day, and seeing our students perform so brilliantly in front of an audience of over 1,300 people was an incredibly proud moment for everyone at Undershaw.

What people don’t always see is the journey behind every performance. Countless hours go into helping each student build the confidence, resilience and belief in themselves to step onto a stage. They learn that it’s okay if things don’t go perfectly the first time, because real success comes from having the courage to keep trying and to come back stronger after setbacks.

Our incredible staff worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the festival and throughout the day itself, supporting our students both on and off the stage. Their dedication, encouragement and unwavering belief in every young person made moments like these possible.

Undershaw is a truly incredible place, filled with incredible staff doing incredible things for incredible students every single day.

Thank you again to everyone who made Sundial Festival 2026 such a memorable celebration. We couldn’t be prouder of our amazing students. 🌟💙

🌲 Year 9 & Year 10 Residential Update 🌲

Our Year 9 and Year 10 students are having an amazing time on their residential trip! Since arriving, they have been an absolute pleasure to be with, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, communication, and leadership throughout every challenge.

They have embraced every activity with enthusiasm, resilience, and a positive attitude, truly throwing themselves into the experience. We couldn’t be prouder of the way they have represented our school—they have been fantastic ambassadors for Undershaw.

A huge thank you also goes to our incredible staff, whose dedication, encouragement, and support have helped make this such a memorable and rewarding experience for our students. We are so grateful for everything they are doing to ensure everyone has a wonderful time.
