The deep dark wood restaurant is officially open for business! 🌲🍽️
Our little chefs have been busy cooking up the ultimate woodland menu, featuring all of the Gruffalo’s favorite delicacies:
🍦 Owl Ice Cream (complete with soft, fluffy feathers!)
🦊 Roasted Fox (snips of bright orange tissue paper!)
🐍 Scrambled Snake (wiggly green pipe cleaners!)
🥣 And of course... Gruffalo Crumble!
Mixing, scrunching, and scooping these textures was such a fun way to bring the story’s famous rhymes off the page and into their hands. The imaginations in our room were running wild! ✨

The Gruffalo is taking over our August, and we are so here for it! 🐾🌲
We will be diving into the deep dark wood all month long bringing the story to life with hands-on storytelling, meeting all our favorite characters, and even whipping up our very own Gruffalo Crumble! 🥣✨ (Don't worry, no actual Gruffalos were harmed in the making!).
It’s been incredible seeing the children's imaginations run wild as they retell the tale and get stuck into some Gruffalo crumble baking.

Beating the summer heat with sensory exploration and lots of water play! ☀️🧊

This week our babies and toddlers kept cool and with lots of hands-on activities designed to build fine motor skills, curiosity, and focus:

Citrus Play: Exploring the scents and textures of fresh lemons and limes while practicing fine motor control using pipettes! 🍋💧

Ice Rescue: Using child-friendly hammers to crack open frozen blocks of ice and rescue the sea creatures trapped inside! 🔨🐋

🎒 Ready, Set, School! 🏫

As our pre-schoolers prepare for their next big adventure, we’ve set up a dedicated "School Readiness" area in our entrance! 🌟

Here’s what we’re exploring with the children:

📚 Stories & Books: Reading classics like Starting School and Going to School to talk about daily routines, teachers, and making new friends.
🏡 Interactive Play: Using our dollhouse and figures to role-play a typical school day and process new routines through play.
🗺️ "Can You Find Your Primary School?" Our photo whiteboard features pictures of local schools and Reception teachers so children can spot their new school and see familiar faces!

For Parents & Carers:
We also have information leaflets available on our display table including "Starting Reception" guides and "The Road to School" roadmaps packed with simple ways to support your child's independence at home before their big first day. 📄💡

Garden Update: Big Progress & First Harvests! 🌿🍅

Remember our little green patches? Look at them now!
Our little gardeners have been busy checking on our progress, and we have some big news:
🍅 Tomatoes: We are learning all about growth stages as our tomatoes turn from green, to orange, to rich red!
🌸 Sweet Peas: They have shot up so high and are filling our entrance with colour!
🥒 Courgettes: We’ve officially harvested our very first courgette!
The excitement on the children’s faces when they spotted the first red tomato and picked our first courgette. Stay tuned more harvests are on the way!
