✨ MORE MOVEMENT. MORE MUSIC. MORE FREEDOM. ✨

I’m so excited to be bringing more spaces for free, embodied movement to the High Peak this autumn.

Three gatherings, each with its own energy - but all rooted in the same invitation: to get out of your head, come back into your body and move in a way that feels completely your own.

🥁 Ecstatic Dance with
A live, rhythmic journey of movement, percussion and collective energy.

🔥 Shake the Dust - next one 18th September come for a fiver
A guided embodied practice weaving movement, shaking, breath, release and rest. No choreography and no need to know what you’re doing - just space to move, feel and follow your body.

🌑 Samhain Dance with Samar Linn | 5Rhythms® Berlin · Somatic Dance · Coaching
An evening dance journey marking the turning of the season - gathering together in movement, music and connection.

These spaces aren’t about performing or getting the moves right.

They’re about remembering something much simpler: we are movement.

You can dance, shake, stretch, sway, lie down, pause, move wildly or barely move at all. There is no right way to be in your body.

No dance experience needed. Come as you are. 💫

Many people living with anxiety, chronic stress or the effects of trauma find themselves asking the same question:
“I know I’m safe… so why does my body still feel anxious?”

The answer often lies in the nervous system.
Our minds can understand that the danger has passed, but our bodies don’t always receive that message straight away. When we’ve experienced stress, overwhelm or trauma, the nervous system can remain in a protective state, keeping us on high alert long after we’re actually safe.

This isn’t because you’re weak, broken or “overreacting.” It’s your body’s way of trying to protect you using patterns that once made sense.

Healing isn’t only about changing your thoughts. It’s also about helping your body experience safety again through gentle awareness, nervous system regulation, embodiment and compassionate practice.
The more we learn to listen to our bodies with curiosity instead of judgement, the more opportunities we create for healing.

✨ What helps your body feel just a little safer today? Share in the comments you might inspire someone else.

Therapist Myths #4: If you’re stressed or overwhelmed, you just need to relax more. 🧠

Stress and overwhelm can be much more complex than simply needing to “calm down”.

Feeling overwhelmed can be a sign that she 'what’s being asked of us is exceeding what we have capacity for in that moment'. That could come from the demands of the day, sensory overload, relationships, work, or a combination of lots of little things.

Rather than immediately asking, 'How can I calm down?', we can get curious about what our nervous system might be communicating and ask:

'What does my nervous system need from me right now?'

Sometimes that might be rest or relaxation. But it could also be talking to someone, meeting a friend, making a cup of tea, moving your body or simply giving yourself some space.

There isn’t one universal way to respond to stress. 🤍

If you're looking for a class that helps you slow down, release tension and reconnect with your body, this could be exactly what you need.

My Somatic Yoga for Mobility & Relaxation class combines myofascial release, yin yoga, meditation and gentle, intuitive movement to help you move with greater ease both physically and mentally.

Using therapy balls and supportive props, we'll gently work into the connective tissue to ease areas of tightness and improve mobility. Through longer-held yin postures, guided meditation and body-led movement, you'll have the opportunity to quiet your mind, calm your nervous system and reconnect with how your body feels.

This class is ideal if you're carrying stress, feeling stiff or restricted, recovering from the demands of everyday life, or simply craving a slower, more restorative way to move. There is no pressure to achieve, perform or keep up, just an invitation to listen to your body and meet yourself with kindness.

No previous yoga experience is needed, and you'll be guided every step of the way with options to suit your body.

Join me on Tuesdays, 6.15–7.30pm at Make Space, New Mills, and discover how slowing down can help you move, feel and live with greater ease.

What actually is Ecstatic Dance?✨

Maybe it’s something you’ve wanted to try, but you have absolutely no idea what to expect and that’s completely okay.

We arrive together and begin in a circle, gently connecting and exploring some movement together. You might feel nervous, unsure, excited… or a mixture of all three.

As the music begins, it takes you on a journey. 🎶

You might start soft and gentle, gradually move around the space, dance freely, or even choose to lie down. There are no steps to learn and no choreography to follow it’s about listening to your body and responding in whatever way feels right for you.

At the end, we slow things down, settle and land back together with a closing circle. 🤍

Been stuck at your desk or in meetings all day?

Feeling tired and frazzled in equal measure?
Sometimes, before moving onto the next part of your day, your body needs a little time to come down too.

These three simple practices can help you slow things down and reconnect with your body.
Start with a few deep diaphragmatic breaths. Let your attention settle on the movement of your breath.

Then come down onto the floor, take your feet wide and gently move your knees from side to side. If it feels good, allow the movement to open into a twist.

Finally, try legs up the wall. Take your time getting comfortable and make sure your hips and legs feel supported.

Nothing complicated. Nothing to get right. Just a few minutes to move from busy and frazzled towards a little more settled.

Save this for the end of one of those long days when your body and mind both need a moment. ✨

Embodiment for Beginners | Part 2: Tapping & Shaking

One of the simplest ways to reconnect with your body is through gentle movement.
This practice begins by softly tapping your heels on the floor, allowing your arms to stay relaxed and your body to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You might like to put on some music and simply notice what happens as you move.

As you continue, you may begin to feel warmth, tingling, or other sensations waking up in your body. From there, you can invite in some gentle shaking, allowing the movement to spread naturally through your whole body.

There’s no need to force anything or get it “right.” The invitation is simply to notice, to be curious, and to let your body move in the way it needs to.

Sometimes even one minute of intentional movement is enough to help you reconnect with yourself, regulate your nervous system, and return to the present moment.
This is the second video in my Embodiment for Beginners series, where I’ll be sharing simple practices to help you build awareness, reconnect with your body, and support your wellbeing.

Have you ever tried tapping or shaking before? I’d love to hear how it felt for you in the comments. ⬇️

Somatic Yoga for Beginners | Part 2: Releasing Tension with Myofascial Release

One of the beautiful things about somatic yoga is that we don't always need to do more to feel better. Sometimes, slowing down and giving the body the right support is enough.

In this practice, we use a therapy ball as a gentle tool to help release tension held between the shoulder blades and across the upper back. As you allow your body to soften over the ball, you're inviting the muscles and connective tissue to gradually let go of unnecessary holding.

By slowing your breath and settling into stillness, you create space for your body to relax, your circulation to flow more freely, and your nervous system to receive the message that it's safe to soften.

There's no need to force or push simply notice what you feel and allow your body to respond in its own time. Small, mindful moments like these can make a real difference to how you move and feel each day.

Stay tuned for Part 3 of the Somatic Yoga for Beginners series, where we'll explore another gentle practice to help you reconnect with your body.

If you'd like to experience these practices in person, I'd love to welcome you to one of my classes. Whether you're completely new to somatic yoga or looking for a gentler way to move, you'll find a calm, supportive space to explore movement at your own pace. ✨
