Who would have thought that receiving a letter off "Mr. Biscuit Bear" would have lead to such an amazing last week to our half term! πŸ₯°
The children had to complete their mission of making him more friends for his Halloween Party.
If following the biscuit trail, working out how to help, writing a reply letter to tasting, designing and baking Mr. Biscuit Bear's friends wasn't enough, a spookily superb Halloween Party was definitely in order, to celebrate everyone's hard work!
I'm sure Mr. Biscuit Bear was over the moon that he asked the Combs Children to help!
Well done you superstars!

Have a fantastic half term everyone!πŸŽƒπŸ”₯

We're going on a bear hunt! 🐻
We had a wonderful time in Forest School this afternoon. We listened to the story 'We're going on a bear hunt' then went on a bear hunt of our own, through the wavy grass, the cold river and squelchy mud. We even found a bear (Mrs Doughty) hiding in the gloomy cave!

This morning, the children had a lovely lady from the Blue Cross animal charity come in talk to them about the importance of keeping all pets happy, healthy and well looked-after.
All the children listened fantastically and enjoyed the assembly!

The children enjoyed National Poetry Day yesterday.
They listened to, discussed and recited different poems which then inspired them to create their own πŸ₯°.
They loved sharing their poems with their friends.

What a marvellous magical day we've had!
The children loved celebrating Roald Dahl Day today.
They followed in George's footsteps to design and make their own marvelous medicine.
From washing powder and tooth paste to rat droppings and false teeth, their imaginations ran wild.

*Disclaimer, no children were harmed in the making of this!

Our story was George's Marvellous Medicine, our shopping list was more Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! 😁

What a fantastic first week back we are having!
It is wonderful to see all our little treasures back from their summer holidays, we have missed seeing these smiles everyday.
We would like to welcome two new little superstars who have joined our school this year and have settled in fantastically.
We love watching our Combs family grow!🌱

All the children have happily jumped back in to school life and it's been great to watch them all getting stuck in to their new learning. From listening to stories, making Lego boats with friends, to writing, painting, starting to learn Spanish and singing Autumn Days.
Wow, and we are only three days in!😊

What an emotional but wonderful last week of term we've had.
Our leavers had a super send off ready for their exciting adventures in September at their new schools!
From good luck messages, certificates and a disco to lunch at the pub and a brilliant leavers assembly finished off with a flash mob performance which surprised us all - wow!
Good luck to you all, we will miss you.πŸ€

From our family to yours, we hope you all have a wonderful summer and we can't wait to see the rest of you in September.

Take care, stay safe and enjoy!❀️

We had a very happy visitor β€˜buzz’ in to check on our sunflower competition this morning. 🐝

One of our kind neighbours donated a couple of sunflower seeds for the children to grow. It is great to see the bees and other wildlife enjoying them, just as much as the children.🌻

The children absolutely loved their PE session with Mark from PAS this afternoon, they were introduced to boxing! πŸ₯ŠπŸ₯Š
Lots of excitement when the gloves and pads came out and they loved sparing with their friends.
It is a good job the teachers can move quick when taking pictures, we seem to have a lot of professional boxers in the making!
Great work team!🀩

We were lucky enough to have Nicky from New Mills Leisure Centre come in to school this morning to talk to the children about water safety.
The children were super listeners, enjoyed the presentation and asked great questions to help improve their knowledge on how to be safe around water. Well done guys!!🌟
This knowledge is vital, especially as we approach our summer holidays!
A big thank you to Nicky and New Mills Leisure Centre πŸ‘

It was lovely to welcome back our local PCSO and her colleague from Buxton Police Station.
The children saw and learnt all about the different equipment that the police use in their job. They were also given the opportunity to look at and sit inside the police van, stand in the back with their friends (which was super exciting) and listen to the siren.

Thank you very much to our friends at the Police Station, we really enjoyed your visit!

What a delightful day we all had on Saturday at our Summer Fair.
It was incredible to see both our families and friends from our community come along to support us and enjoy themselves.
A massive thank you to the fabulous staff, our amazing parent helpers and the wonderful people who donated all our fantastic prizes.
All together we raised a spectacular ✨£1,275!!!✨
Our school council will meet this week to talk about the best way of asking all their friends what they want to spend some of the money on to help improve their school. It will also go towards taking the children on a school trip and buy nice resources to help with their learning!
We are so grateful!
Thank you πŸ₯°

What better way to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly than to observe it first hand! We have all loved the anticipation of coming into school each morning not knowing what we would find! From tiny little caterpillars we watched grow, then witnessing the amazing transformation to chrysalis and finally the proud moment we released our beautiful butterflies πŸ›πŸ¦‹

The children had a lovely morning learning all about the importance of recycling and how they can help to look after our environment.
They learnt about putting the right waste in to the right coloured bins, the journey our waste goes through when our bins are emptied, landfills, compost, recycling centres and what we can all do, to help and look after our planet. 🌍
They really enjoyed the different games to help with their learning of recycling and even got to craft and colour recycled materials!
Excellent work team! πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈβœ¨πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

We were lucky to have a special visitor at our school this morning. Our local PCSO came to talk to the children about the importance of the work that they do in our community.
The children have learnt how to call the emergency services, have developed a good understanding of the different equipment PCSO's and Police Officers carry and she also talked about how the role of a Police Officer and a PCSO has evolved with technology.

The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Jodrell Bank this week learning all about Space. πŸ’«πŸŒ
They learnt about the myths and legends behind constellations, experienced the Whispering Dishes, conducted an experiment on the Black Hole, visited the Planet Pavilion and went in to the Space Dome where they explored our solar system.
What an amazing experience!πŸͺβœ¨

The children in KS1 have been super scientists this afternoon.
They have explored the meaning of 'force' through the use of materials, predicting which balloon rocket would travel the furthest across their classroom - their faces say it all 😁.
It is wonderful to see that this has excited and inspired their curiosity of Space!
Amazing!

A big well done to our year 2 children🀩
Last week they packed their bags and stayed over night at our local activity centre - White hall.
They had a fantastic time stream scrambling up Goyt Valley, hiking on their night walk and canoeing on Combs reservoir, all rounded off with a zoom on the zip wire!
A magical, memorable experience had by all!
Well done everyone, we are so proud of you all!🌟

We rolled our sleeves up, brought some of the outside inside and prepared our vegetable gardens this afternoon.
The children can't wait to watch the seeds take root and the vegetables grow, before we take them out and eat them!
Great work little farmers!
