Why is person centred care important when supporting a person to move that is living with dementia?
Each person is on their own journey when living with dementia and usually when a person starts to need support with their moving and handling they are entering the later stages of dementia.
How does this affect the interaction between the carer and the individual?
They can forget who you are and also that they have used equipment before ( such as a hoist). Moving and handling is not just learning about equipment, its understanding how your interactions are going to affect the individual.
