Top 30 Under 30s gives organisations the opportunity to highlight, recognise & invest in their talent

Today we're hearing from Charlotte Buckley from KPMG

Growing up, Maths was always Charlotte's favourite subject, and at that time she wanted to go on to be a teacher. After finishing school, she went on to sixth form and it was at this point when she realised she didn't have the skillset to be teacher. The step up to A-Levels was a big jump and really challenged her, but it cemented to her that Maths was what she wanted to go into.

She moved on to university, where she continued her passion for maths, and this was really tough because it was very exam-heavy, but she thrived under that pressure. She still wasn't sure what she wanted to do after finishing university, so she started looking at summer internships in finance. She applied to KPMG and got on the graduate programme in the corporate tax team.

At the end of the programme, the manager at the time offered Charlotte a Graduate role, which is a three-year programme where you sit your exams alongside working full-time. At the end of this three-year programme, Charlotte was promoted to Assistant Manager, which is the role she is in now and thriving in! We're so proud to be recognising such an incredibly dedicated individual!

Today, we're hearing from Oliver Scott from Leggett & Platt

Growing up, Oliver's main passion was to become a rugby player. He played at an amateur level and then got a scholarship offer from Bradford Bulls. He found the standard very high, but when he got to a point where he played a game and played well, all that hard work paid off.

In the last year, halfway through the season, he sustained a wrist injury and played with it through to the end of the season. He ended up with torn ligaments and a broken bone, the wristbands above that collapsing. At the end of that season, he was let go and has since had five operations to try and mend the injury, which has resulted in a full wrist fusion.

At this point, he was limited in the jobs he could do because of his wrist, and he started to think about what his plan would look like. He saw an apprenticeship at L&P Springs and joined with no GCSE's, no business experience, but he applied the hardworking mentality he learnt from rugby. He went from being clueless in an office to leading a £40, 000 car park project. After his apprenticeship, he stepped into a production planner role and has since moved up again to shift manager!

Session 5 ✅ (this marks the halfway point in the programme!!)

Yesterday, we had our fabulous class of 2026 together for Session 5 of the LEAP Programme

Powerful Performance is focused on presence and audience, looking at how we show up and how we use our body and voice to convey a message

We also look at ways to help identify how our audience may want us to communicate and provide a framework to help identify communication preferences from the people around us

It's weird to think we're now halfway through this process with this year's cohort, and we've just loved seeing them come together as a group and really throw themselves into it!

A huge thank you to the brilliant Tom Malcolm Wright for delivering yet another wonderful session!

Today, we're hearing from the fabulous Melissa Davidson on how she got to her current position at Accu

Melissa wasn't very academic in school; she preferred being hands-on and enjoyed things like science and IT. When she got to A-levels, she picked Politics, Business Studies and Economics. She wanted to go on to be a Police Officer, so this led her to go and study Criminology at Huddersfield New College.

After that, she applied to be a Police Officer and got through to the final stage of interviews but then decided it wasn't the career she wanted to pursue anymore, which made a big impact on her life as she'd spent so long studying towards one thing, and her deciding to take a different route left her feeling a bit lost.

Melissa then decided she wanted to look for something in an office, which brought her to Accu. She joined the company in Customer Service, and because of her love for helping people and speaking to people, she thrived in this role. She since moved into a team leader role, and then moved over to a Sales and Customer Development role!
