The Cultivate Feminist Journal is a student-led, open-access publication interested in the practices, nuances and articulations of feminism.

We are based in the UK but open to global submissions of all kinds of studies related to or about feminism. The CWS journal is a student-led, open-access publication interested in the practices, nuances and articulations of feminism. We are based in Europe but open to global submissions of all kinds of studies related to or about feminism. We accept academic essays as well as cultural commentary and creative work. Both academics and non-academics are encouraged to submit material, in all mediums of art and critical thought, including but not limited to essays, photo essays, poetry, videos, podcasts.

✨ This week, members of the Cultivate team were invited to attend an event at York St John University celebrating the launch of the first edition of Curiositas.

Following previous conversations and collaborations around postgraduate publishing (including our joint workshop during York International Women’s Week) it was lovely to reflect together on the connections that have grown between our journals over time.

We’re especially grateful to hear that our earlier workshop and discussions around feminist and postgraduate publishing helped inspire and encourage the development of as a journal community.

At a time when collaborative, creative, and feminist spaces feel more important than ever, it was meaningful to celebrate not only a new publication, but also the relationships and shared commitments that continue to emerge through this work.

Congratulations again to the Curiositas team on their first edition — we’re excited to continue fostering these connections and future collaborations together 🤍

Our Throwback Series continues with Creative Associate Editor Dina Coppes. Dina revisits Loren I. Sandoval Arteaga’s bilingual poem To Dolores from Issue 5: The Creative Issue.

Our Throwback Series continues with Co‑Editor‑in‑Chief Elena Sinagra. Elena revisits Charlotte Anne Oakes (our own co-editor-in-chief)’ How to Tell Time: Using the Temporal Logic of Spiritual Feminists in the 1970s and 1980s to Offer a New Perspective on the ‘Wave’ Debate from Issue 6: Eras of Feminism.

Our Throwback Series continues with a spotlight from Social Media Lead Lan Vo. Lan revisits Disrupting Male Gaze in Famous Vietnamese Paintings from Issue 3, a project that reimagines iconic colonial-era images of women through the eyes of marginalized communities.

Although the piece appears under Lan’s name, it was created collectively—with collaborators embodying and interpreting the paintings in their own ways. For Lan, this shared process is what makes the work resonate with Issue 8’s theme of Collaboration: feminist creativity often grows out of friendship, community, and collective vision rather than a single authorial voice.
