Melbourn Village College is raising funds to transform our library into a modern, welcoming and inspiring space where students can read, study and thrive.

We have high ambitions for inclusion and want every student to have access to a space where they feel welcome, supported, and able to flourish.

Our vision is to create a quiet, comfortable environment where young people can build the confidence, skills, and aspirations that will help them achieve their full potential.

We want our library to be a place where students can:

Develop a lifelong love of reading
Build confidence, literacy and study skills
Access high-quality books and learning resources
Enjoy a calm, welcoming environment
Feel valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their ambitions
This project is about more than bookshelves and furniture. It is about showing young people that they matter, their education matters, and their future matters.

Donations will directly support the transformation of the library through:

Comfortable seating and reading areas
New books and literacy resources
Study tables and independent learning spaces
Modern shelving and storage
SEND-friendly reading and wellbeing areas

Every contribution, regardless of size, will help create a lasting resource that benefits hundreds of young people each year.

We're launching a new campaign to help us create a library our students deserve. Inspire a love of reading, transform young lives.

How you can help

We are seeking donations to our Crowdfunder campaign from the local community. Every donation, whether large or small, will help transform the space.

We are also offering a range of corporate sponsorship opportunities with a range of rewards recognising support. Visit our Crowdfunder page or our website to see the local business sponsorship packages.

We are also keen to develop a volunteer community to help keep the library organised, and to help our students with literacy and to develop a lifelong love of reading. GCSE Success at Melbourn Village College!

Today we are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results, and we couldn't be prouder of our students and staff.

This year's Grade 4+ outcomes are above the national average, representing an incredible 16 percentage point increase on last year's results. There were strong achievements across all subjects, with particularly impressive improvements in English and Maths.

Some of our biggest successes include:

A 21-percentage point increase in boys achieving Grade 4 or above in English and Maths

A 25-percentage point increase in outcomes for disadvantaged students

Continued progress in closing achievement gaps and ensuring every student can thrive

These results reflect our commitment to "Excellence for All" and the values that shape life at Melbourn Village College: kindness, curiosity and resilience.

Principal Rachel Spencer said:

"We are absolutely delighted with this year's results and incredibly proud of our students. Their achievements are the product of hard work, determination and a willingness to embrace challenge. These results show what is possible when students are supported to aim high and persevere."

We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Assistant to join our ambitious and evolving pastoral team in an exciting newly created role at the heart of our developing pastoral provision.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape and establish systems, processes and ways of working that will have a direct impact on the support we provide to our students and families. As a key member of the team, you will provide dedicated administrative support across all aspects of pastoral care, ensuring the smooth coordination of student support processes and helping to deliver a responsive, high-quality service.

You will manage pastoral communications, coordinate meetings and diaries, prepare reports and documentation, and ensure that parents, carers and the wider school community receive timely, professional and consistent support. Working closely with pastoral leaders, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our pastoral provision is organised, effective and student-centred.

This role is ideal for a highly organised, proactive and discreet professional who thrives in a busy environment, has excellent communication skills and understands the importance of confidentiality and attention to detail.

What an incredible night! 🎭✨
Thursday’s sell-out performance of Annie Jr. was absolutely amazing, showcasing the outstanding talent of our actors and singers. As MVC’s first musical in many years, the show truly lived up to every expectation and more.
