Nobody prepares your body for ministry the way they prepare your set list.

We rehearse the songs. We study the scripture. We book the sound check. Then we walk into the room running on four hours of sleep and a coffee, wondering why we feel empty by the second verse.

Your body is not separate from your calling. It is the vessel carrying it.

Eighteen months ago I made a decision. Not to look a certain way. To stop asking God to use something I was not maintaining. Moving my body, eating well, resting well became part of my worship, not a distraction from it.

And the shift was real. My leading changed. My presence changed. My capacity to carry what God gave me changed.

1 Corinthians 6:19 says your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you. Not a stage prop. Not an afterthought. A temple.

So if you lead worship, play an instrument, sing on a team, or stand behind a pulpit, hear me on this. Taking care of your body is not vanity. It is stewardship.

Start where you are. Move today. Eat something that nourishes you. Rest without guilt. Your assignment deserves a vessel that can carry it.

Whoever has access to your ear shapes what comes out of your mouth.
Look at what you have let in this week. A call before sunrise. A stream straight after. A voice note from someone who does not even carry your assignment. A playlist built by a crowd, not a conviction.
Then you wonder why your worship feels borrowed instead of built.
A crowded ear cannot produce a clear sound. Every voice you let in leaves a mark on your language, your tone, your convictions. So if you are listening to five different houses, do not be surprised when your own house sounds unclear.
This is why the fast matters. Not fasting food. Fasting noise. Strip it back to two or three voices who actually know your assignment, your pastor, your culture. Let everyone else wait outside.
You are not being rude. You are being responsible with what feeds your spirit.
Guard your ear. It is shaping your sound whether you notice it or not.

I discuss why new songs often fail in church settings and reveal that the problem isn't the song itself it's the introduction. I share that congregations don't reject songs; introductions fail because worship teams aren't taught how congregations actually learn new music. I introduce the three-week method, a proven approach for singers and musicians working together as a team to embed new songs so that by week three, your congregation won't just know the song they'll own it.

I don't post myself leading worship often. Some things stay sacred. I don't believe every moment belongs online.

But something shifts in a room when people agree on who God is together. That agreement carries a weight sound alone can't hold. This room had that weight.

There is something about the small rooms.

My dream is to gather thousands of worship leaders under one roof. But God is building my heart in rooms with twelve people first.

I taught a workshop on spontaneous worship in Manchester. I gave the room four words to sing over their gathering. One word was FAITHFUL.

We talked about the faithfulness of God. If He says He will do something, He does it. Numbers 23:19 says God is not a man who lies, and not a son of man who changes His mind. He does not speak and fail to act.

When a room sings that word, people stop performing. They remember who they are singing to.

I used to think small rooms were a step toward the big one. Now I know the small rooms are where hearts get formed. Mine included.

The vision stays the same. I am learning to love where I am while I wait for where I am going.
