WELCOME BACK!

What a lovely first day back! It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school and see the children settling into their new classes, catching up with friends and getting back into the routines of school life.

There have been lots of smiles, conversations and excitement as we begin a new school year together. We’re looking forward to all that the year ahead will bring and wish all our children, families and staff a very happy start to the new term. 🌿

THANK YOU!

As another wonderful school year full of moments of laughter, perseverance and growth comes to a close, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU. It has been a year filled with achievements that every member of our school community should be proud of. Thank you to our pupils, our families, our staff and our governors for your continued support throughout the year.

Special thanks and farewell go to our amazing Year 6 children as they begin the next chapter of their journey. We are so proud of the young people you have become - not simply because of what you have achieved in the classroom or on the stage (although, that has been remarkable!), but because of the kindness, resilience, determination, compassion and good humour you show every day. You will always be an important part of our Bayford family, just as we hope the memories and friendships you've made here will always remain part of your story. We wish you every success as you look ahead. Remember to go with confidence, work hard, dream big and, above all, continue to be yourselves.

To everyone in our Bayford school family, we hope the summer holidays bring plenty of time to rest, make wonderful memories and enjoy time with those you love. All that is left for us to say is have a great summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday 3rd September!

The curtain rises tonight! 🎭 Whilst you’re waiting for the show to begin, here are some sneak peek photos from today's matinee of Olivia.

Our talented Class 3 children have been working incredibly hard, and have put on the most incredible show. Expect plenty of toe-tapping tunes, memorable characters and blink-and-you’ll-miss-them jokes. Even Sherlock Holmes, who may or may not be on the case tonight, would admire the attention to detail that has gone into bringing this production to life.

We look forward to welcoming everyone tonight for what promises to be a fantastic production. Congratulations, Class Three!🌟

SUMMER FUN

As we make our way through our final half term before the summer holidays, school life is busier than ever! The continued warm weather has meant that plenty of outdoor activities have been able to continue, including Class 2 enjoying their Summer Challenge Reading in the beautiful Sacred Garden. We also welcomed parents of our Year 2 and 3 children to a Maths Evening, where Miss Lourenco introduced our KS2 maths curriculum and explained our Teaching for Mastery approach. Despite the heat, it was a fantastic evening and greatly appreciated by everyone who attended.

Our youngest children enjoyed a special visit to the church as part of their RE learning, exploring areas they don't usually get to see. A huge thank you to Mrs Neilson and Colin for taking the time to show them around and helping bring their learning to life.

And finally, a huge well done to Class 1 for organising a brilliant football-themed fundraising day! From creative competitions and fun challenges to the ever-popular cake sale, the whole school got involved and helped make the day a huge success, raising an amazing amount for Hertfordshire Zoo. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and contributed to such a fantastic day.

SECOND PLACE!!!

Our ‘Math-mazing Mathematicians’ sat the final of the HfL Year 3 Maths challenge yesterday, and we are delighted to share that they came SECOND PLACE!!

An absolutely incredible achievement from the children, who showed teamwork, perseverance and brilliant maths reasoning during the challenge.

Congratulations, Year 3, we are so proud of you! 🥈

HOT HOT HOT!!

This week's sunshine has certainly kept everyone on their toes!

Our EYFS children have had the right idea about how to spend their time in this heat, with lots of water play and paddling to keep cool!

We have been so proud of all our children this week. Despite the exceptionally hot weather, they have shown fantastic resilience, adapted brilliantly to the changing routines, and continued to work hard and enjoy their learning. Staff have made every effort to keep classrooms and activities as cool and comfortable as possible, ensuring learning could continue safely throughout the week.

A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for helping to keep our children safe and comfortable during this exceptionally hot week. From applying sun cream before school, sending in sun hats, water bottles and cool clothing, to supporting us with our hot weather arrangements, your help has been greatly appreciated ❤️

We hope everyone manages to stay cool and enjoys a lovely weekend when it comes! ☀️

LEARNING EXPERIENCES!

It has been a busy and exciting week at Bayford! Class 1 worked hard during the Phonics Screening Check and showed fantastic effort throughout.

Class 1 also enjoyed a wonderful trip to Knebworth. Their guide was impressed by their knowledge and engagement, and they represented the school brilliantly!

EYFS have also been doing a lot of exciting learning! They began learning about different countries around the world and explored flags, maps and interesting facts about their chosen countries before enjoying some cooking. They made banana and chocolate ice cream using the Thermomix, baked chocolate chip cookies, and had lots of fun measuring, mixing and creating tasty treats together 😋

MATHS CHALLENGE

Earlier this week, some of our Year 3 pupils took part in the annual HFL Year 3 Team Maths Challenge.

After some dedicated training the previous week, our Math-mazing Mathematicians (the team name they proudly chose themselves!) spent the afternoon working together to solve a range of challenging maths problems, many of which required creative thinking and teamwork.

They represented our school brilliantly, showing determination, enthusiasm and excellent problem-solving skills throughout the event. Most importantly, they had great fun taking part!

We’ll find out later this week whether they have secured a place in the finals. Fingers crossed for our young mathematicians!

☀️Happy Half Term! ☀️

What a spectacular, sun-drenched week ahead! With amazing weather expected for the half term break, it is the perfect time for everyone to relax and recharge. The past two weeks have been absolutely jam-packed with learning, creativity, and celebration across the school.

Here is a look at what the children have been up to:

EYFS
Our youngest learners have had a busy, hands-on fortnight!
Culinary Creations: The children became mini-chefs, preparing their own healthy 'McDonald’s', baking pizzas with fresh toppings, and making refreshing berry ice lollies. They even learned the British Sign Language (BSL) signs for all the ingredients!
Creativity & Nature: Inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, the children built their own castles, drew beautiful butterflies, and created wonderful artwork to celebrate Sir David Attenborough. They then wrapped up the week by joining a live national assembly alongside thousands of other children across the country.

Class 1
R.E. Insights: The children explored the traditions of Ramadan, learning how families celebrate and creating beautiful themed crafts.
National Numeracy Day: The Class 1 Fruit Shop was a huge hit! The children used their 'spending money' to count coins and budget for fruit kebabs, brilliantly linking maths with DT, instructional writing, and healthy hygiene.

Class 2
Smart Spending: The children joined an interactive Zoom presentation to test their money-management skills.
Maths & Music: While the Year 4s were rocking out at Ukulele, the Year 3 children played number games and discussed the importance of numbers in daily life.
Future Entrepreneurs: Working in pairs and mixed groups, the children budgeted for new theme park attractions and designed their own summer fetes. The creative fundraising ideas they came up with were fantastic!

Class 3
It has been a week of big achievements and big business in Class 3!
SATS Success: The children wrapped up their final SATS breakfast last week in high spirits, complete with well-deserved speeches and cheers all round.
Theme Park Tycoons: After a school-wide assembly revealing that every job uses maths, Class 3 took on a 'business loan' for National Numeracy Day. The children used spreadsheets to budget, calculate area restrictions, and design a community theme park, saving any leftover cash for advertising!

Thank you to all the children for their incredible hard work and enthusiasm. Have a wonderful, sunny week, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 1st June! ☀️🍦🕶️

What a wonderful week for EYFS! ☀️

The children have been busy with lots of hands-on learning and making the most of the lovely weather by taking their learning outdoors wherever possible.

In the past week, this has included making beautiful marbled cookies, creating imaginative flower potions in our outdoor area, and enjoying a walk down to the local pond. During the visit, the children learned all about water safety and took part in a fun scavenger hunt, spotting lots of interesting things in nature along the way.

It has been fantastic to see the children so engaged enthusiastic while exploring and learning together outside in the sunshine! ☀️
