Last week we had a ‘Bring a Thing’ Week at The Little Learning Club!

Our children brought along something special from home to inspire their learning - from Jellycats and toys to other much loved treasures!

Our tutors used their chosen items to make sessions fun and personal, inspiring creative writing, storytelling, descriptive language and more. ✏️📚

It was lovely to see how bringing a little bit of home into their sessions helped spark ideas, conversations and some brilliant and hilarious work! 💛

📚 Parents’ Evening Coming Up? Here Are Our Top Tips

Parents’ Evening is a great opportunity to find out how your child is getting on- but often you only get a short time with their teacher! Here are a few things to think about before you go:

⭐ Ask about progress, not just attainment
Is your child making good progress from their individual starting point?

⭐️Find out about confidence
Do they put their hand up? Have a go independently? Ask for help when they need it?

⭐️Ask what you can work on at home
Try asking: “What’s the one thing we could focus on at home that would make the biggest difference?”

⭐️Get specific about English and Maths
Are there particular areas they find tricky- such as reading comprehension, spelling, times tables or problem solving?

⭐️Ask about the whole child
How are they getting on socially? Are they happy and settled? How are they during transitional periods during the day (e.g. lunch time)?

⭐️Make a quick note afterwards
Write down 1-2 areas to focus on while the conversation is still fresh. You don’t need a huge list!

And remember - Parents’ Evening isn’t about what your child can’t do. Ask what they’re doing really well! 💙

Need a little extra support after Parents’ Evening?
At The Little Learning Club, we offer friendly, personalised tuition for children from EYFS to Year 6, helping them build skills, confidence and a love of learning.
