Poppy’s New Pet by Paula Eastick, Hereford (2026) Poppy’s New Pet is a new children’s book about an adorable, but very mischievous dinosaur! The suggested age range is 3-7 years.

I read “Poppy’s New Pet” to the Early Years children at Stretton Sugwas Academy today, and the story was enjoyed with lots of smiles and laughter! Afterwards we had questions and lively discussions, including about being kind to friends! The youngest children drew some beautiful pictures of dinosaurs and other animals. I received lots of hugs at the end!

Stretton Sugwas School made me feel very loved this week! ♥️

I was welcomed with open arms into their Year 1 class followed by their Year 2 class. The children really engaged with the story and illustrations, and afterwards we had lots of discussion around the story, with a question/answer session.

The Year 1’s finished the session by drawing and colouring their own baby dinosaur which was met with great enthusiasm! I received several lovely compliments from both children and teachers.

I am excited to share with you that I will be returning soon, to do a similar session with the younger children in the school, in Pre School and Reception!
