Maths With No Fear

✨ STUDENT SUCCESS STORY ✨
"Jolie met Peter with a very low confidence in Maths having failed her IGCSE twice. He quickly reviewed her exam papers, created a personalised plan and immediately boosted her confidence with his targeted, and friendly approach to her learning. He never doubted she would pass and this belief in her ability with a laser focus on her areas of weakness enabled her to feel progress from the very first session. We are extremely grateful to Peter for helping Jolie to realise her potential and achieve the pass mark."

After a few weeks away for tutoring commitments, I'm delighted to be back and ready to support students again.
Maths With No Fear continues to help Foundation GCSE students who struggle with maths anxiety achieve the grade 4 or 5 they need. Whether your child freezes in exams, avoids homework, or just feels "I can't do maths" - I work with students to build genuine understanding and confidence.
I run small group programs and one-to-one sessions, focusing on breaking down the barriers that hold anxious learners back. My approach combines patient explanation, practical strategies, and creating a space where mistakes are part of learning, not something to fear.
With experience teaching across different contexts - including SEMH settings where I've worked with students facing significant challenges - I understand that everyone's relationship with maths is different. My goal is always the same: helping students discover they can do more than they think.
If your child is working towards their Foundation GCSE and could use some extra support, get in touch. Sometimes all it takes is someone who believes they can succeed and shows them how.

📚 From a Grade 3 to a Grade 5 - Real Results That Change Lives 📚
"Having failed twice with a 3 in foundation maths both times, just passing the exam seemed like a huge mountain to climb. However, with Peter's patience and teaching skills, our daughter got a 5, which was a massive increase in marks, as well as a really solid pass.
We are all thrilled that the hard work paid off, and would recommend Peter to help obtain that much needed pass, or to boost grades generally where higher grades are required."

Does this sound familiar?
If your child is struggling with maths, feeling stuck, or needs that crucial pass for their future, I can help. Whether it's turning a fail into a pass or pushing for those higher grades, I work with patience and proven teaching methods to build confidence and achieve real results.

📚 When Traditional Tutoring Isn't Working: A Parent's Story 📚
💬 "Having had a maths tutor since year 7 for our daughter, and then subsequently failing the gcse twice, we felt that it was time for a change of tutor. Peter was recommended to us... She took the gcse for a third time and got 26 more marks than her previous two attempts, thus securing her a solid pass. I would highly recommend Peter to any student who has struggled with maths." - CM, Parent
🎯 26 more marks. That's the difference between failure and success.
Sometimes it's not about working harder - it's about working differently. This student had been receiving tutoring for years, but still couldn't break through.
✨ What changed? A strategic approach that focused on:
📊 High-impact topics that actually appear on foundation papers
❌ Identifying and eliminating costly "silly" errors
💪 Building genuine confidence through targeted practice
🏆 Exam technique that maximises every mark
If your child has been struggling with foundation maths despite extra help, it might be time to try a different approach.
🔑 Because 26 more marks isn't just a number - it's the difference between retaking again and moving forward with their life.
❓ What patterns have you noticed hold your child back in maths?

🎯 FOUNDATION GCSE MATHS PAST PAPER MARKING SERVICE
Are you practising past papers but not sure how you're really performing?
Here's the thing: Unless you sit that paper under REAL exam conditions, your results won't be accurate. That means:
✅ No notes or textbooks
✅ Only equipment allowed in exams (calculator, ruler, etc.)
✅ Completed in one sitting within the allocated time
✅ No interruptions or breaks
Why does this matter? Because practicing "open book" or taking breaks gives you a false sense of security. You need to know your TRUE current level to target your revision effectively.
My classroom success with this approach:
In my teaching experience, students who received detailed feedback identifying their specific weak topics saw significant improvement in their final exam results. When you know exactly which areas are costing you marks, you can focus your revision time where it will have the biggest impact - rather than wasting time on topics you already understand.
The 'silly' error discovery: Through this detailed marking method, it's almost always possible to find marks that should have been gained but were lost due to careless mistakes - wrong signs, misreading questions, or calculation errors. Identifying these patterns early means they can be prevented in the real exam and often make the difference between a Grade 3 and the Grade 4 pass you need.
⏰ Timing is crucial: The earlier you do this assessment, the more time you have to learn and strengthen those identified weak areas before your actual exam. Don't leave it until the last minute - give yourself the best chance to improve.
What I offer:
📝 Professional marking of Foundation GCSE, IGCSE Foundation, and National 5 maths papers
📊 Detailed question-level feedback showing exactly where marks were lost
🎯 Clear guidance on which topics to prioritise for maximum grade improvement
Investment:
Usually £150 per paper
LIMITED TIME - First 10 students only:

📚✏️ FOUNDATION GCSE MATHS TIP ✏️📚

A fundamental mistake I see time and time again?

Students rushing through word problems without reading them properly! 😤

Here's my golden rule: READ TWICE, SOLVE ONCE 👀👀

🔴 Step 1: Read the entire question
🟡 Step 2: Read it again and this time:
✏️ Circle the key numbers
✏️ Underline what the question is actually asking for
🟢 Step 3: Now solve!

I promise you - this simple technique will save you so many marks! 📈

Remember: It's not about being the fastest in the exam room. Slow and steady wins the grade! 🐢🏆

Parents: Does your child rush through their maths homework? Try encouraging them to use this technique - you might be surprised at the difference it makes!
