Hereford Cathedral School has announced that Executive Headmaster and CEO, Dr Michael Gray, will leave the School at the end of August 2027, following six years of leadership.

Since joining HCS in 2021, Dr Gray has overseen a significant period of development, strengthening the School’s educational provision, international partnerships and long-term financial sustainability.

During his tenure, HCS has established franchising operations in China, announced plans for Hereford International School, Kigali, and formed the Three Choirs Schools Group with The King’s School, Gloucester and The King’s School, Worcester.

Chair of Governors, Mr Christian Morgan-Jones, said: “Dr Gray has led HCS with energy, commitment, wisdom and a powerful strategic vision, which has strengthened the School for generations to come.”

Commiserations to Old Herefordians, Adam Billig, Matthew Hitchiner and Fran Burberry-Wills; your HCS Sports Day records were broken yesterday! 🏆

Results below:
⭐ Gabe A - Senior Boys' Javelin - 43.8m - over 1m further than previous record holder Matthew Hitchiner OH back in 2008!
⭐ Emmanuel M - Inter Boys' 100m - 11.17s - beating Adam Billig OH's record, which has stood since 1997!
⭐ Louisa Z - Inter Girls' Discus - 27.93m - comfortably beating Fran Burberry-Wills OH's 27-year-old record!
