If you’re new around here, I wanted to introduce you to what SENDwise is actually about.

I’m Keira, a SEND Consultant with over 10 years’ experience working across education, supporting children, families and schools.

I created SENDwise because the SEND system can feel overwhelming, confusing and exhausting for families — especially when you’re trying to understand what your child needs while also trying to navigate EHCPs, schools, reports, assessments, meetings and paperwork.

My job is to make that process feel clearer, more manageable and less lonely.

And here’s something really important:

You might simply know that something isn’t working.

I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this… ONE WHOLE YEAR of SENDwise! 🥹💛

What started as an idea to support families navigating the SEND world has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of supporting parents, children, schools and professionals through EHCPs, school support, advocacy, DLA, paperwork, visual supports and so much more.

There have been lots of learning curves, exciting opportunities, busy days and plenty of moments where I’ve thought “Wow… I actually built this!” 🥹

As the summer holidays start to disappear and September gets closer, it’s completely normal to feel a whole mix of emotions — excitement, worry, overwhelm, exhaustion… maybe even “how am I going to get everything ready?!” 😂

For SEND parents, there can be even more to think about: new routines, support, transitions, friendships, sensory needs, school meetings and wondering whether school truly understands what your child needs.

But parents… YOU’VE GOT THIS. 💛

You know your child better than anyone. You advocate, you plan, you worry, you problem-solve, you celebrate the little wins and you keep showing up — every single day.

You are doing an amazing job. 🦸‍♀️
