In the times between active engagement our students 'learn by osmosis'. We know that engaged adults create intrigue, encourage aspiration and role model a work ethic that transfers on to our learners.

We show them that work can and should be the right balance of enjoyable, mentally stimulating and physically challenging so when they leave our provision it's to enter the world of fulfilling work.

About us:

RADS - Realising Ambitions and Developing Skills is an alternative provision based across a number of small settings in Hebden Bridge and Halifax (Calderdale). We deliver vocational/ practical skills education on a 2:1/ small group basis for primary and secondary students.

Our team consists of a diverse range of predominantly neuro spicy talents and we encourage applicants of all types and from all backgrounds to apply.

We prioritise the joint wellbeing of staff and students, provide continuous opportunities for skills acquisition and operate a not touch, no restraint policy.

RADS works in a semi structured way: sessions have a clear purpose, routines and expectations while modules are chosen around the student’s interests and strengths. At our core RADS is a stepping stone to social mobility - helping learners build confidence, competence and employability through meaningful vocational experiences.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Successful candidates will be required to hold an up to date enhanced DBS certificate. We may also carry out an online search as part of our safer recruitment process.


Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for experienced educators to fill a number of vacancies available on a part time, full time or ad hoc basis working on a 2:1 basis with wonderful young people to overcome barriers to learning.

- Passionate about the benefits of hands-on practical learning

- Understands metacognitive learning and how to facilitate and hold space for it.

- Understands the importance of, and are able to, hold strong consistent boundaries in a neuro affirming, trauma informed way.

- Background in teaching in a 2:1 / small group setting

- Experience of working for, or in partnership with, social care and local authorities

- Efficient planning sessions and tracking outputs and outcomes.

We use Google workspace to create, amend, store and share documents. The ability to use this system is crucial.

- An understanding of the AQA Unit Award Scheme

- Professional, punctual and physically fit.

The Role:

- Work closely on a 2:1 or small group basis to build strong relationships with and engagement from learners which lead to achievement.

- Deliver the existing curriculum framework of activities based around practical skills, employability and social, emotional development.

- Create engaging session content and resources to compliment the existing curriculum framework.

- Take part daily in outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling with students and staff.

- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.

- Align soft skills with AQA framework modules.

- Show up to work grounded, regulated and able to hold consistent, strong boundaries without being punitive.

- Record positives in wow book and input into student’s rainbow jar.

- Record outputs, outcomes, safeguarding concerns and behavioural strategies on (short) daily feedback form.

- Adhere to all company policies.

Essential skills/ experience:

- At least 2 years experience supporting children with SEND

- At least 2 years teaching experience working in a trauma informed environment.

- Creative, practical or trade skill that you are passionate about.

- Proficient and confident cycling.

- Willingness and ability to learn and apply new skills

- Knowledge of non violent resistance (NVR)

Desirable skills/ experience:

- Driving licence

- Interest in music and musical ability

- QTS

You’ll deliver sessions in different formats depending on need:
👤 **1:1 (sometimes lone working)**
👥 **2:1 with an LSA**
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Small groups**

You’ll be brilliant at building relationships, thinking on your feet, and linking learning to real conversations and real life.

# # # 💡 We’re looking for someone who:

⭐ Is a strong, positive role model
⭐ Keeps boundaries **firm, calm and consistent**
⭐ Has experience with **neurodivergent learners**
⭐ Uses **NVR (Non-Violent Resistance)** or a similar approach
⭐ Loves self-development and trying new skills
⭐ Can plan practical sessions + keep clear notes/records

# # # 💷 Pay & paid time

* **£20.72/hr** via PAYE
* Paid **contact time + at least 15 mins set-up and at least 15 mins pack-down**
* Plus a **paid planning allowance (20% of scheduled contact time)**

# # # 🛡 Safeguarding

Enhanced DBS + training required (paid when attendance is required). No photos/audio/video on personal devices.
