Perfect Potions!

In English today 1 Red mixed together some spectacular ingredients to make a witches potion, just like in the witch in our text 'Room on the Broom'. The children chose what they wanted to go into the cauldron and gave it a stir, before saying the magic words 'abracadabra ziggety zaggety zoom'. The children used time conjuctions of: first, next, then and finally, to describe the instructions for making the potion. Many childrren had a go at writing the instructions in our English provision time.

Year 5 – Parent Reading Workshop

A big thank you to everyone that attended our Year 5 Reading Workshop this week. It was wonderful to see you and your children enjoy some lovely reading activities together. Decorative pots!

In 1 Red as part of our Learning Means the World Theme 'Happily Ever After', we designed and made decorative pots in our Design and Technology lesson. We discussed how many characters such as fairies and princesses had decorative jewellery boxes, so we thought it would be a great idea to make our own. We rolled and moulded air drying clay to create the pots and lids. We left them to dry then painted them and added a little sparkly touch.

6 Blue’s Brilliant Ball Handling!

Robinwood residential- Year 6!

Last week, Year 6 children packed their bags and set off on an adventure, to Robinwood residential! Our three days were jam-packed, full of adventurous activities, including: Zip lining, Canoeing, Archery, Giant Swing, caving and so much more! Whilst there, we learnt so many new skills, such as resilience, encouragement, problem solving, communication and listening... alongside everyday life skills, such as making our own beds, packing suitcases, organisation and getting dressed independently. We all had an incredible time... even if we did have to climb, not one, but two giant hills to get there!

For World Mental Health Day, we discussed what Mental Health is and why it is important. We also discussed who can help us if we have big emotions and how we can look after our Mental Health. Then, we read lovely story called ‘In My Heart’ and discussed all the different emotions we can experience. Afterwards, we drew and wrote all the things that bring us joy and happiness in a heart and decorated it.

This week we have created podcasts all about 'Tim Berners Lee' and the World Wide Web. The children wrote and recorded their scripts using BandLab.
