A part turned bud vase getting a second go in the lathe to finish it off.

I always find the spade bits a little wild, I am sure the must be a better choice. I was thinking about an auger? Anyone got any experience with these. The hole is 110mm deep. Or do I need a forstner with an extension?

Thanks for watching and reading.

Part 2 - Junior Gentleman Fountain pen from Strongink Penkits.

Kindly sent to my by the lovely folks across the pond at this fountain pen was a pleasure to turn and construct. The quality of the kit is fantastic and has produced a really well balanced pen that feels good in the hand. The instructions, on their website, were clear and easy to follow.

Thanks for the collaboration πŸ˜€

A lovely piece of maple here. I had turned it i to the rough shape a while ago and this is the second turn. Went for a slight taper on the body which I think came out well.

It will be on the table this Sunday at the Burwash Village fair. Hope to see you there.

Part 1 -
The lovely folk at Strongink Pen kits sent me over some kits to try out.

This is the Jr. Gentleman's Fountain pen in Chrome. My first fountain pen off the lathe and I will definitely be doing some more.

This video preps the blanks ready for turning. It does require a few extra bits of kit: 12.5mm & 10.5mm drill bits and a sleeved barrel trimmer. That said, I don't have that barrel trimmer, so it does work with the standard 7mm if you are careful.

The wood is a piece of cherry that was gifted to me a few years ago, so good to finally put it to use.

Thanks for reading this and stay tuned for part 2.
