This group is for parents and children interested in a friendly, relaxed chess club focused on learning, playing, and building confidence.
Whether your child is completely new to chess or already enjoys playing, theyβll be welcome.
The aim is simple - create a positive space where they can improve, think for themselves, and enjoy the game.
Sessions will be designed to be:
βοΈ Encouraging and supportive
βοΈ Suitable for beginners and improvers
βοΈ Focused on learning through play
βοΈ A good mix of fun and challenge

Everyone loved today's tactical lesson on Forks!
Aside from the excitement of the fire alarm going off I think today was one of my favourite session.
We started off with some sheets, kindly provided by Sarah Hegarty Chess and ALL of our children managed to complete the first 2/3 sheets with 4 of our players managing to complete all 4 of the sheets.
I love the little competitions they have to try and be the first to CORRECTLY complete the sheets to win extra prizes π (they all get prizes!)
Some of those puzzles took ME some time to complete and we still don't know if they were correct π
but it was a great conversation with all of the children, listening to their ideas and talking them through.
It's such a pleasure seeing how much our children are improving week by week π
We then played some friendlies and our players set up some puzzles from a book onto the demo board for everyone to work out.
Well done everyone, I'm so proud of you all π
In addition - my daughter has FINALLY become interested in chess.
She became home educated after Easter and has been attending our home ed chess club each week. She's got so much chess knowledge after years of being dragged around to different clubs that I've taught at. But so little experience, that she makes lots of blunders and mistakes, so she was losing most of her games, even against new beginners, so she decided it was time to put in some work.
Over the last few weeks, she has got the chess board out as soon as we got home from Chess club and it was wonderful to see how much she has improved over the last few weeks of one to one sessions as well as lots of games at our club.
Today she managed to win a few games and gave one of our best players a good game too π
I'm excited to see her improve over the next few months π
I do have space for private sessions - please message me for more info βοΈ

We had so much fun at our Chess & Create holiday club this half term βοΈπ¨
We enjoyed:
β’ Chess puzzle sheets
β’ Creative challenges
β’ Mini chess tournaments
β’ Colouring
β’ Running around on the field to burn off some energy ππΌββοΈ
β’ Playing with flying prop tops outside
β’ Lunch outdoors under the shelter for some fresh air
β’ Building a HUGE den with a campfire π₯
β’ And even a mini dance competition started by one of our lovely children π
We also had lots of beginners join us, and thanks to a fantastic masterclass from Chloe, they all learned how to move the pieces and picked it up brilliantly π
There were lots of prizes won, loads of smiles, and plenty of fun had by everyone π
We canβt wait to see you all again at our summer clubs! βοΈπ

What a glorious week weβve had β sunshine AND a crazy thunderstorm ππ©οΈ
Luckily we had fabulous weather for our netball holiday club this half term π
We packed in loads of fun, including:
β’ Grannyβs footsteps
β’ Endball
β’ Fire & ice tag
β’ Shooting practice
β’ Throwing & catching
β’ Mini netball games
β’ Lunchtime crafting
(and a bit of silliness under the shelter to keep cool!)
We even had time for a run around on the grass and some cartwheels π€ΈββοΈ
It was so lovely working with a small group of our younger children and welcoming some brand new netballers. Using a softer training ball helped build confidence, and we had some amazing moments - including one new player scoring the winning goal and one of our more experienced players getting her very first goal π
Everyone improved so much and, most importantly, had lots of fun π
We canβt wait to see you all again at our summer sessions! ππ
