This week we have enjoyed exploring our local area on our whole school well-being walks. The weather has been changeable but we have all appreciated nature around us and the signs of autumn. The children have used their different senses to find out about their environment. Thanks to Mrs Race for organising the walks this week and for all her work around well-being across school.🍂⛈️🌥️

Today, our EYFS children joined Dalesplay on a special outing to visit Hawes Fire Station.
They were given a really informative talk about fire safety, including what to do when the fire alarm sounds, how to call for the fire brigade and also what to do if their clothes ever catch alight.
They had a chance to sit in the fire engine and to hear the sirens. They also explored the different equipment and even had an opportunity to try out the power hose! Miraculously, all children and staff returned to school dry!
A big thank you to Hawes Fire Service for a wonderful morning and also to Dalesplay for inviting us to join the.

This morning we held a special celebration assembly for Rev Dave and Mrs Clark on their retirement. The children enjoyed sharing their wonderful singing from the different seasons and school concerts. They were also able to read their own poems and prayers that had been written for the occasion. It really has been special times working so closely with the Church and Rev Dave and Mrs Clark. We wish them well in their retirement.

On Tuesday some KS2 children joined members of St. Margaret’s Church to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first full printed New Testament of the Bible being printed in English. To mark this occasion, we read aloud the whole of St Mark’s Gospel, taking it in turns to read sections. It was a lovely way to mark the event and the children read beautifully.

Class 1 have enjoyed their visit to Chapel Gallery and the Dales Countryside Museum today. They all had a super day working on creative activities this morning and the history of toys in the Museum this afternoon. It was great to have a picnic lunch in the park and enjoy some time on the equipment. Thank you to all for an amazing day.
