An exciting bit of news from our sister company....

Are you keen to become a Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor, or Lowland Leader? Are you a member of school staff or a volunteer who works with young people? We might be able to help you...

In 2019 we started a bursary funding scheme which turned out to be a great success and continues to be. To date we have awarded £21,275, towards course fees, to help school staff and volunteers who work with young people to get qualified.

We are keen to help wherever possible – support from AE bursaries is given to help train/assess leaders so they can lead outdoor activity courses and expeditions for young people in the future. For 2024, we're pleased to be able to offer funding support to up to a maximum of 40 individuals (20 for ML, 10 for RCI, and 10 for LL). This funding is given in the form of either:

✅A £50 contribution towards Rock climbing Instructor course fees.
✅A £100 contribution towards Mountain Leader course fees.
✅A £50 contribution towards Lowland Leader course fees.

We’re looking to expand our team of freelance instructors and have work available on our multi-activity programmes and DofE expeditions.

Adventure Expeditions is a not-for-profit organisation and a leading provider of DofE and outdoor activity programmes in the UK. We’re a team focused on delivering genuine outdoor adventures and widening participation amongst groups who might not otherwise have access to outdoor opportunities 🌳

Our experienced, friendly, and highly skilled freelancers are essential to everything that we achieve and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to welcome new instructors to the team in 2024. Successful applicants with the relevant skills would have the opportunity to work on a variety of our programmes. Our offices and training base are in Hathersage, in the Peak District but we work UK-wide and overseas 🗻

Experience and Desired Qualifications:
ML/HML or LL and/or RCI;
Evidence of commitment to a CPD process for any awards held (i.e. being a member of a professional body e.g. MT/AMI);
A current First Aid certificate.

DofE: The DofE Assessor qualification is desirable for those wishing to undertake DofE work.

DBS: As part of AE’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, DBS safeguarding checks and safeguarding training will also be required.

Pay: £155 - £175/day dependent upon location, plus travel expenses.

Our instructor team had a great time in the Cairngorms recently, working with our friends and an enthusiastic group of residential participants, planting trees on the slopes of Beinn a Mheadhoin. Over the day, 1,111 trees were planted - a great effort in contributing to the fantastic work being undertaken to rewild the area. Well done, everyone!
