An eight-week small-group course to develop your confidence and your singing.

Feel more relaxed when you sing, develop your range, find greater freedom or flexibility in your voice, become more expressive and understand much better what your voice can do.

This is a practical, exploratory course in a small group. Message me for details.

I was having an interesting conversation yesterday with someone who's asked me to run a course about music and healing.

People often talk about "healing music", but I wonder if it's much more individual than that. One person may find harps, chimes or gentle ambient music wonderfully calming while someone else finds it irritating. If you've been through a difficult period, you may not even be ready for that kind of music.

I've noticed that when I'm feeling stressed or a bit down, I don't always want to relax. Sometimes I want to put on some loud house music, disco or "yacht rock" and dance around the kitchen. Other times it's jazz or classical music that seems to bring me back into balance.

I'm going to post one of my all-time favourites below. It's one of those songs that never fails to lift my spirits and gets me dancing around the kitchen.

What about you? What music do you turn to when you need a lift, want to unwind or just feel like yourself again? If you have a favourite, post it below. I'd love to discover some new music.

Thank you to everyone who has followed my singing page. We've just reached 59 followers!

As a thank you, I'd like to offer followers a complimentary Singer's Journal when you book your first singing lesson with me.

The first session is all about you. We'll talk about your singing, your goals and any challenges you may be facing. Together we'll create a plan to help you develop your voice and realise your singing potential, whatever that means to you.

The Singer's Journal is a lovely notebook designed to help you keep track of your repertoire, practice sessions, ideas, discoveries and progress as your voice develops.

Whether you sing in a choir, are returning to singing after a break, are preparing for performances or simply want to enjoy your voice more, I'd love to help.

Send me a message for a chat.

We are designed to make sound.

To speak, to sing, to play with tone and colour, to express what’s inside us through the voice. It’s not an extra, it’s part of being human.

And yet so many people hold back. Not because the voice isn’t there, but because at some point it felt safer to keep it contained, quieter, more controlled.

When you start to use your voice more freely, something opens up. It’s not about being perfect or performing for anyone, it’s about expression, creativity and allowing yourself to be heard in whatever way feels right to you.

So what are you going to do today that lets your voice come out a bit more?

Sing along to something you love, speak up where you might usually stay quiet, make a sound just because you can.

And if you’d like a safe place to explore that more fully, I have a few Friday sessions in Hastings where you can come and try it out.

“I can’t sing" or 'I'm afraid to.”

That’s what a lot of people say when they first speak to me.

Not because it’s true, but because at some point it felt safer to be quiet, to stay low key, or not draw attention to themselves. For some, they were told they couldn’t sing. For others, they were laughed at, or just never really encouraged. Over time, the body learns to hold things in, and the voice follows.

So it comes out smaller, tighter, more controlled, or not at all in the way they want it to.

What I see again and again is that the voice isn’t gone, it’s protected, and that changes everything about how I work. I’m not trying to get something out of you, I’m creating the conditions where it feels safe enough for your voice to come through.

We might use simple vocal work, awareness, breath, sometimes a bit of mindfulness or light hypnotic language, just enough to help your system settle. From there, things often start to shift quite naturally.

I’m not trying to make you into a “better singer.” I help you be what you want to be with your voice, which for most people means more authentic, more allowing, and less held back.

That might be singing in the car and actually enjoying it, joining a group without shrinking, having a go at karaoke, or singing with a band if that’s where you want to go.

It’s your voice, and you’re allowed to use it.

I have a few Friday sessions available at the moment if you’d like to come and try a lesson and see how it feels.

I have a few spaces opening up for singing and voice sessions over the next couple of weeks.

This is for you if you’d like to:
• come back to singing after a long break
• feel more confident using your voice
• sing more comfortably in a choir
• prepare for an open mic or performance
• or simply explore your voice and express yourself more fully

What makes my work a bit different is that I don’t just focus on the voice. Alongside practical vocal training, I draw on my background in psychotherapy, mindfulness and hypnosis to help with confidence, nerves and getting out of your own way.

Sessions are relaxed, practical and tailored to you.

If this has been on your mind for a while, just message me or get in touch to arrange an introductory session.
