Earlier this week we continued our fantastic link with Manchester City, where we sent a group of learners from our FE department to take part in the One City Further education football festival. This was a brilliant opportunity for pupils who don’t normally get the chance to play football, to attend and play some semi competitive football. The team played 9 games throughout the day, winning 6, drawing 2 and only losing once. They scored 18 goals and conceded just 1. It was an unbelievable performance from the team which was made up of players who had never played a football match before. At the end of the day the Manchester City in The Community staff gave all the players their own Manchester City shirt. We are all extremely appreciative of the kindness shown by Manchester City and have enjoyed the link we have developed over the year. This will continue into next year where we have 12 visits lined up across KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5. Well done all involved

Last week secondary department took part in a Lancashire Tag Rugby tournament. They competed against numerous other SEN schools across Lancashire. We took a very inexperienced team including several players who hadn’t played tag rugby before. They started the day with a tight 5-4 loss but played some great rugby. Next, they played their remaining 3 group games and won all 3. They played some brilliant rugby, scoring some amazing tries. This meant that they had made it through to the semi-finals after lunch. In the game they played against the winners of the other group. It was a great game where Tor View won 5-3 and had qualified for the final. The final was a tense end-to-end game where Tor View had 2 tries disallowed. Unfortunately, this meant that they lost the game 4-3. It was great day and all the players can be proud of their efforts. Well done.

This weekend, we were all so proud of one of our very own teachers, Mr. Haworth!
Mr. Haworth starred in a production of 'Beauty and the Beast' at Bacup Royal Theatre, playing the part of 'Cogsworth'.
A big 'Well done!' from all of the staff and learners at Tor View!

Learners across the Primary and Secondary department took part in celebrating Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday!

We learnt about his life, his amazing work to spread awareness of animal conservation and how we can keep our Earth healthy and safe.

Staff and learners got into the spirit of the day by dressing up as Sir David himself or as one of the many animals he has taught us all about!

On Monday 11th May, learners from across the Primary and Secondary departments were lucky enough to visit 'The Inspiration Train' on the East Lancs Railway at Rawtenstall train station. This special train only visited Rawtenstall for this one day as it made it's journey around the UK to celebrate 200 years of the railway!

Learners and staff learnt about the past, present and future of the railway by taking part in quizzes, exploring engineering tasks, listening to experts about uses of technology and dressing up as various roles of the railway!

To quote one of our Secondary learners, our visit to this unique train was, 'Inspiring and fascinating!'.
