School's out for Summer!

Last week some secondary learners were given the opportunity to represent Burnley Football Club at the Premier League Disability festival. It was a great day where they all got pictures taken with the premier league trophy and met a Paralympian gold medallist Gregg Stevenson, they even got to wear his Paralympic gold medal. The football started with a fantastic 6-1 win against Wigan Athletic, next they had another great 3-1 win against Preston North End, with one player scoring a hattrick. Next, they were extremely unlucky to concede in the last minute and lose 4-3 to Wrexham AFC. They came back well in the next game beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 with our goalkeeper saving a penalty. In the final game of the morning, they lost 2-1 against a very good Morecambe side. This meant they had made it through to the next phase of the competition. They played Leeds United next and battled to a 2-2 draw, a game in which both teams could have won. Next up was Middlesbrough and they played amazing winning 6-1 and qualifying for the quarter finals. Unfortunately, they played an excellent Wolves side and lost 3-1, Wolves eventually won the tournament. Burnley FC staff said our players were a credit to Tor View and had played and behaved impeccably all day. Well done everyone involved.

In KS2, we have recently enjoyed our yearly Residential! We stayed at Coldwell Inn in Burnley and went on trips daily. On day one we went to Chester Zoo and enjoyed looking at all the animals - Inparticular watching the monkeys! We enjoyed spending our spending money in the gift shop.

On Day 2 we went to Gulliver’s World. Although the weather wasn’t kind to us, we all had a fantastic time and got wet on the water rapids anyway! On the way back to Coldwell we went to McDonalds and all enjoyed our favourite happy meal. As we were all tired after a fun day, we enjoyed relaxing by watching Toy Story before heading to bed.

On Day 3 we went bowling and headed back to school for an activity afternoon - it was just too rainy for an afternoon at Townley Park!

Everyone had a fantastic time and represented Tor View so well with their fantastic behaviour.

We already look forward to our KS2 Residential in 2027!
