Hello Sinhala learners! In this lesson, we'll practice describing our daily routines. This is a great way to use past, present, and future tenses, and expand your vocabulary.
Key Vocabulary:
• උදෑසන (udäsana) - Morning
• දහවල් (dahaval) - Afternoon
• සවස (savasa) - Evening
• රාත්‍රිය (rātriya) - Night
• අද (ada) - Today
• ඊයේ (īye) - Yesterday
• හෙට (heṭa) - Tomorrow
• වැඩ (väḍa) - Work/Chores
• කෑම (käma) - Food/Meal
• පාසල (pāsala) - School
• විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය (vishva vidyālaya) - University
• නිවස (nivasa) - Home
• මිතුරන් (mituran) - Friends
• නින්ද (ninda) - Sleep
Useful Verbs:
• කනවා (kanavā) - To eat
• බොනවා (bonavā) - To drink
• යනවා (yanavā) - To go
• එනවා (enavā) - To come
• කරනවා (karanā) - To do
• කියවනවා (kiyavanavā) - To read
• බලනවා (balanavā) - To watch/see
• නිදාගන්නවා (nidāgannavā) - To sleep

Example Sentences:

Let's look at how to form sentences to describe your day.
Present Tense:
• මම හැමදාම උදෑසන 7ට අවදි වෙනවා. (Mama hämadāma udäsana hăveta avadi venavā.) - I wake up at 7 AM every day.
• මම දැන් පොතක් කියවනවා. (Mama dän potak kiyavanavā.) - I am reading a book now.
Past Tense:
• ඊයේ සවස මම වැඩ කළා. (Īye savasa mama väḍa kaḷā.) - Yesterday, I worked in the evening.
• අපි දහවල් කෑම කෑවා. (Api dahaval käma kävā.) - We ate lunch.
Future Tense:
• හෙට මම මිතුරන් හමුවීමට යනවා. (Heṭa mama mituran hamuvīmaṭa yanavā.) - Tomorrow I will go to meet friends.

Try to describe your day in Sinhala using the vocabulary and verbs above. You can start with simple sentences and gradually add more detail.
For example:
• අද උදෑසන මම කෝපි බිව්වා. (Ada udäsana mama kōpi bivvā.) - This morning I drank coffee.
• දැන් මම සිංහල පාඩමක් කරනවා. (Dän mama Siṁhala pāḍamak karanā.) - Now I am doing a Sinhala lesson.
• සවසට මම කෑම හදනවා. (Savasata mama käma hadanavā.) - In the evening I will cook food.
