π₯π Understanding Food Waste & Healthy Eating ππ₯
On Wednesday, 3rd June, we were delighted to welcome our catering company, Chartwells to Cedars Manor School. They delivered a whole-school assembly and interactive workshop focused on food waste and healthy eating.
Our pupils learned about the importance of reducing food waste and discovered creative ways to use leftover ingredients, including making delicious smoothies from leftover fruit and creating recipes using foods that might otherwise be thrown away.
Did you know that the most commonly wasted foods in the UK are bread, carrots, potatoes and milk? Our children were surprised to learn just how much food goes to waste each year and discussed simple ways we can all make a difference.
Why not continue the conversation at home? Talk with your child about any leftover food in your household and see if you can come up with a tasty recipe or smoothie together!
A big thank you to Chartwells for helping our pupils learn valuable lessons about sustainability, healthy choices, and reducing food waste. ππ
