The most powerful photographs don’t happen when someone learns how to pose.

They happen when someone begins to trust themselves.

Every woman who steps in front of my camera arrives thinking she needs to know what to do with her hands… how to stand… how to smile… how to look more photogenic.

But that’s never really the work.

The real transformation happens when she stops asking…

“Do I look okay?”

…and starts asking…

“Can I let myself be seen?”

Because confidence isn’t created by the perfect angle.

It comes from feeling safe enough to take up space.

To soften.

To laugh.

To breathe.

To stop performing and simply be.

That’s when the photographs become something more than beautiful.

They become honest.

That’s what I saw happen with Jen.

These images weren’t about creating a version of her that looked more successful, more polished or more “camera-ready.”

They captured the woman who was already there.

The woman who trusted herself enough to be seen.

And perhaps that’s why they ended up in the pages of Platinum Magazine.

Not because they were perfectly posed…

…but because they were real.

I’m so excited to be weaving an ecstatic dance journey for The Cocoon — a sacred sober rave — @ Ignite Sober Rave held on New Years Day 2026 at the Dance House in Leeds.

For anyone who doesn’t know me - DJ Ginergy - Ginny - I am a Dance the Medicine–trained ecstatic dance facilitator and DJ, devoted to creating safe, embodied spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through movement, music and presence. My work centres around supporting embodied confidence, emotional expression and a deeper sense of self-trust — helping people feel more at home in their bodies, minds and spirits.

Musically, this set will move through watery, spacious and melodic soundscapes, into earthy, tribal and organic grooves, before building into ceremonial bass, D&B and joyful rave energy, and finally landing in heart-opening, integrative downtempo.

The dance will be lovingly guided and opened by Danielle Byars , supporting everyone in arriving in their bodies, setting intention and feeling held before the music journey unfolds.

Come as you are. Move as you feel. Be held in the cocoon. 🐍✨
