We’ve been having boat trips with Ugur Baynur on the Kartal Boat since 2004 and they never disappoint. It’s very much a family business with Aslı Baynur on board. No blaring music (unless you request it) and they accommodate dietary requirements. The food is amazing! The day is so relaxing and refreshing! We love snorkelling amongst the fish. Their paddle board looks tempting! Can’t wait for the next one!

Have you got a minute? Well, maybe 5. Even 5 minutes of mindful meditation can make a difference to how you’re feeling. I’m not someone who finds just sitting and ‘being’ easy. I need to be doing something. So asking me to meditate for an hour straight is pointless. What I do find manageable are short meditations several times a day. They ground me in the present and allow me to disengage with unhelpful thoughts and emotions. I highly recommend the Insight Timer app, which is a huge resource of guided meditations of varying lengths and focuses. It’s free, although there’s a paid version if you’re interested in the courses or want to listen offline. https://insighttimer.com

I’ve tried to target particular groups of people who could benefit from my services to help them with anxiety and depression, amongst other things, but I hadn’t considered people who are sole carers for a loved one with a disability or debilitating illness. I was contacted a few weeks ago by someone who feels so low and worries constantly because they are the full-time carer for an elderly, disabled spouse. We had our first session together and it became clear that their situation probably won’t improve for the foreseeable future. If you can’t change the situation, then you need to adapt how you react to it. Avoid negative thinking and try to reframe things into a positive. Instead of “I have to…”, think “I get to…” Practice gratitude. It will take time practicing the various mindful exercises we went through, but even after one session, some progress was made, and I can’t wait for session two next week. www.suesmindfulnesscoaching.co.uk
