Boredom can viewed as a state of too little stress, often experienced by children and youth
However, it’s also aligned to neurobiological state linked to creativity
This state is referred to by flow scientists as release.
Having a shower, walking, doing a puzzle, doodling, cleaning are activities that trigger release.
Our digital world can relieve boredom but it also hijacks the release phase of the flow cycle.
The result is less creativity, more struggle and higher levels of stress and anxiety. This can lead to behaviour issues and maladaptive coping strategies.
Help your children reframe boredom and an opportunity to experience release.
Boredom or ‘release’ is where ideas come from.
Come to Mosaic Partnership’s next event on Wednesday 9th March, 10am at the Pickled Sprout, Harrogate to find out more about how to manage the digital world.

Parents, carers, teachers…people who care for children are responsible for creating and environment that enables child to flourish.
This includes being aware of how your behaviour impacts others.
Are you sharing your calm stress?

Does this quote resonate with you? It did with me, I was using strategies with my children that would make a brief difference but nothing lasting. It was an emotional rollercoaster and it was exhausting. I suffered burnout. Deep down I knew there must be another way. I spent along time in various learn, test, review cycle before I realised that I needed to change the way I looked at things. This is what we share at Mosaic Partnership, a new way of looking at things. We have 7 children between the two of us, we’ve had plenty of ups and downs. We know there is not a ‘one sized fit all’ solution. We know that our approach works for all sorts of challenges parents face on a daily basis. As parents we feel healthy, calm and confident and this benefits our children’s wellbeing too. Visit our website at www.mosaicpartnership.org or message us to find out how we can help you explore a new way and get different results.

We had a fabulous audience today at our event at the . One of the key messages was the importance of parent and carer wellbeing for child wellbeing. We all have ups and downs with our children, some bigger than others, it’s hard. We need to notice how we feel, then reflect on that, rather than reacting to any emotions or feelings we don’t understand. REMEMBER STORY FOLLOWS STATE. We hope you enjoyed it, any feedback would be very welcome!

Having a sort out and found this, I used to have it hanging in the kitchen wall. I would use it to help my children notice how they spoke to others and how they spoke to themselves. I think we could all do with a reminder so I’ll be putting it up again.

99% of the harm is caused in your head by you and your thoughts.
1% of harm is caused by reality, what actually happens and the outcome.
Most of the time, the problem isn’t the problem. The way you think about the problem is.
