Safer sleep

You may have seen recent media coverage about baby sleep advice. An investigation has found that some unregulated infant sleep consultants are encouraging baby sleep practices that do not follow safer sleep advice, including sleeping babies on their front.

It’s important at times like these to remind families about the research that underpins our advice, and what we know saves lives.

Since the Back to Sleep campaign launched in 1991, safer sleep guidance has helped save almost 32,000 babies’ lives in the UK.

We may not yet know exactly what causes SIDS, but we do know that following safer sleep advice significantly reduces the risk.

For every sleep, day or night:
✔ Place your baby on their back
✔ Use a firm, flat, waterproof surface
✔ Keep the sleep space clear

We cannot afford to lose the progress we’ve made.

If you’re unsure about advice you’ve seen, seek support from trusted sources such as the NHS, your health visitor or midwife, or The Lullaby Trust.

Happy days will have one space available Monday and Tuesday 8-5:30 pm from 20th July 2026.
