Chepstow Tutoring

Thank you for taking the time to visit Chepstow Tutoring and Mentoring.

I have been teaching English for 13 years at Secondary level. One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is working with students and helping them achieve their goals. I teach the AQA specification and am very aware of the barriers and challenges students face in GCSE exams. I have significance experience in teaching SEN students, those that find English challenging, and those aiming for the top grades.

I offer face to face sessions in Harpenden and surrounding areas or online sessions using google meet.

I prepare students for their GCSE exams. If your child is in Year 10 or 11 they may benefit from weekly or fortnightly sessions. I am also happy to deliver one off sessions on a particular aspects of the GCSE course. I will adapt to your child's needs and deliver lessons that will build confidence and develop their skills.

I have experience of the Kent grammar system and have worked with young people as they prepare for their entrance exams to private schools in the area.

I am also an accredited student mentor. In my mentoring training I have learnt many different strategies to support students alongside their studies. I am passionate about working with young people. Often one of the main barriers to learning is confidence.

I offer mentoring sessions independently from tutoring. This can support young people with revision timetables, preparing for GCSEs, time management and confidence building.

I build relationships with my students so that they feel comfortable. I work with each student to explore their best way of learning. I have a love of learning and I want to pass this on to all young people I work with. I believe confidence is the key to success. I believe in my students and work with them to break down barriers to learning. I am patient, understanding and supportive. Students feel comfortable to ask questions and develop in my tutoring sessions.

I currently have limited space on weekends for face to face tutoring/mentoring with increased availability for online sessions.
