🚨 The ASOS cyber incident is a strong reminder that cyber attacks are no longer just about stealing data.

On 6 October, ASOS customers reportedly received a threatening notification through the retailer’s own mobile app, with attackers claiming they had compromised its Snowflake cloud environment.

That is what makes this incident particularly interesting.

Attackers potentially used a trusted communication channel to take an extortion attempt directly to customers — creating immediate reputational pressure as well as a major technical incident.
