🍞 Ready, steady… bake! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³
Year 3 have been busy learning about cooking and nutrition in Design and Technology.
The children tasted different breads, exploring their appearance, texture, smell and taste. They then designed and made their own bread, choosing tasty ingredients such as cheese, sultanas and olives.

The best part? Tasting the finished bread… delicious! πŸ˜‹πŸž

Step back in time with Year 3!
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3 children have been exploring Prehistoric Art as part of their learning about the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
Inspired by ancient cave paintings, they created charcoal drawings of British animals before making their own natural paints using herbs and spices. They even compared these with modern paints to see how art materials have changed over time.

By linking Art and History, our children develop creativity, curiosity and a deeper understanding of how people lived in the past.

🌟 Congratulations to our new Playground Buddies! πŸ‘

Children from Year 4 and Year 5 recently completed their Playground Buddy training with Caitlin (who supports children's social and emotional wellbeing) and are now ready to help our younger pupils during playtimes.
Through role play and teamwork, they learned how to listen, solve problems, teach playground games and support children who may need a little extra help. They also explored the qualities that make a kind and caring Playground Buddy.

We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and commitment to making Buckingham Primary School a happy, welcoming place where everyone feels included. πŸ’™πŸ’š

With the excitement of the FIFA World Cup continuing around the world, our Year 4 children enjoyed their own World Cup themed learning while some of their classmates were away at Juniper Hall.

The children explored countries taking part in the tournament by creating and presenting fact-filled presentations, designed their own World Cup football kits, created colourful collages and even made delicious Mexican quesadillas. They also showed great teamwork and sportsmanship in their own football competition. ⚽

It was a fantastic few days of learning, creativity and teamwork, linking sport with geography, design, cooking and communication skills. 🌟
