☀️🐛The children have been watching the caterpillars every day, and after two weeks they finally snuck into the cocoons to have a rest. We left them on Friday and when we arrived at preschool on Monday, we had FIVE beautiful butterflies! 🦋 We released our butterflies in the garden and they flew away ready to lay their eggs for more caterpillars next year. 😍

The children have been learning about symmetry and patterns and this was supported by observing the life cycle of our caterpillars. Some of the children made caterpillars from soft play balls and pipe cleaners that were donated to us and made patterns with the colours. The children wrote numbers on stickers and then stuck them on to balls in order.

An exciting morning already in our Preschool. Our topic is People Who Help us! Today we had a visit from three Police Officers from Hampton Police station. The children were very excited to hear about their roles and how they help our community.
The children even had a go at wearing the officers' helmets.

Fun facts: 🤓
1. Did you know if you put two horseshoe magnets together it makes the shape of handcuffs? Our super children did and even tested the real handcuffs to see if they were magnetic.
2. Do you know which hats are worn by male or female officers?

Thank you to PC Santos, PC Bastos and PC Worsley for visiting us and teaching us about police work in our community.

Santa has arrived and is in the building!!!
We had a visit today from a very important visitor in a red suit.
Santa heard that YMCA Hampton Preschool's children were having a Christmas party so decided to land his sleigh in the preschool garden and bring presents for the children.

We found a very small person in our preschool today and no, it wasn't one of our children!! He was wearing a red outfit with a red bobble hat and he had climbed up our Stick Man tree and was swinging. Who is he and where did he come from? 🧐
The children very quickly realised he was an Elf; one of Santa's helpers.
What will he get up to when we've all gone home?
Where will he be in the morning? Mmmmm.........

YMCA Hampton Preschool postal service is ready to go!
The children enjoyed making their own Christmas post box, complete with C R, representing our new King!
The children can post their Christmas cards in the post box and distribute them.
Last collection date is Tuesday 13th December at 9.30am!

A great afternoon with some of our VIPs (Very important parents) joining us for playdough making and play dough disco. The children all showed their families how they make playdough in our Play dough zone. Great fun had by all, and each child took their play dough home to play with.

This week we are reading Room on The Broom and talking about how everyone is unique but can be good friends and work together. We made a Bog stew using spring onions, red onions, and herbs from our preschool garden. Everyone had a turn pretending that they were either the witch, the dog, the cat, the frog or the bird and helped each other.

This week we are reading Room on the Broom. Today we made a swamp. We used coloured water in spray bottles, bubbly plastic and lots and lots of bugs.

This week we have been reading Stick Man. We collected leaves and sticks in the garden to make a stick man to put in our family tree. We've talked about family and people who are important to us.
The children have enjoyed playing with natural resources and using the magnifying glasses to find bugs in our 'indoor woodland'

At Hello Time we sang "what's in the box?"
What was it? Georgia thought it might be scary. It was green, sticky and slimy. What could it be?

A Busy week at Hampton Preschool!
During Hello Time this week, we have looked at The Colour Monster book. We talked about our feelings and the colours. We then looked around our room for colours of the monster to put in his monster jar.

We made a den in the garden using an upturned tuff tray and a blanket. The children were really good at ensuring only four children at a time played in the den.

We played with green pasta play, using our hands to manipulate and mould the wet pasta. Some of the children used scissors to cute the pasta and make patterns in the tray. We found the tweezers were quite difficult to use, but after a bit of practise we were able to use them to pick up very small pieces of pasta.

It was so lovely to see so many smiling, happy faces at our YMCA Hampton Preschool opening party this morning 😁🎉 The children enjoyed facepainting, crafts, a bouncy castle and ball pool, before tucking into their teddy bears picnic 🧸👏 They even got to try a spot of Zumba! We can’t wait for our first session on Monday 🤩🙌

Despite the onset of rain, we are very excited about our Launch day tomorrow from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
Finally, we welcome our new families and local community to our opening of Hampton Preschool and community cafe at the YMCA Whitehouse.

If the day is soggy, don't worry, we will be holding our activities indoors.

Stay and Play today from 10.30am to 12pm.
Come and say hi or visit our Cafe for a light refreshment.
With the extreme heat and the risk of our outdoor equipment becoming too hot to use, we have made the decision to hold the stay and play indoors.

We will be facilitating more stay and play sessions over the summer with dates to be confirmed.

Good morning 🔆
Sadly, inline with local authority advice relating to the impending unprecedented heat wave, we are cancelling this afternoons stay and play session that was booked for 1 - 2.30pm.
However our morning session tomorrow will still be going ahead from 10.30am - 12pm. Our amazing YMCA volunteers will also be manning the Cafe, serving refreshments. Come along and meet other local parents in our Parent Hub in the cafe. ☕️🥤

BREAKING NEWS !!!
Herbie Hampton has joined YMCA Hampton Preschool!!
Herbie will be joining our Preschool in September and is really excited to show off his rucksack that he will be bringing to preschool every day.
Herbie will have a change of clothes, a sunhat and a water bottle all with his name on. Because Herbie will playing outside a lot he will also have a pair of wellie boots and a rain coat. All essential stuff for exploring our great outdoor space.

Our last stay and play of the week!
Lovely morning exploring foam, hand printing with a mum and Going on a bear hunt with a dad! Lovely to see our fantastic space being enjoyed by local families.
