My husband and I were honored to be invited by friends to participate in their club's Fireside Talk.
Tonight's protagonist is called - Elspeth Beard , in her official introduction through Wikipedia,she was born on April 28, 1959, she is an architect and motorcyclist, famous for being one of the first British women to circumnavigate the world by motorbike on her own. She later redesigned historic Munstead Tower and won the RIBA South East England Award in 1994.
Compared with the halo above, I prefer the image in her fireside chat: the conversation is simple, there are no gorgeous words in the whole scene, the voice is low and medium, and sometimes the words are slurred because of excitement. What she shared all night depicted a girl next door who was within reach. Although she was born in a superior environment, she also encountered the confusion of youth and the loss at the end of her first love. In high school, she was dismissed by the top girls' school in the UK. When she was studying architectural design, she was at the bottom of the list for a long time, and she didn't like socializing. A solo motorcycle trip around the world on a whim changed her life. During the trip, she experienced various adventures such as theft, sexual harassment, false identity, and civil war. But when she was asked how she would evaluate her journey, she firmly said: "Maybe, I can plan this journey more carefully and perfectly, but this is not just a motorcycle trip, but it is not just a motorcycle trip. I didn’t plan carefully, and all kinds of adventures along the way benefited me all my life..." At the end of the conversation, I asked her: "Where is your next stop?" She fell into deep thought... "I don't know, I recently I have been working on construction, and I have entered a bottleneck." I said, "Go to China..." She seemed to really listen. I sincerely look forward to seeing her at the age of 64 regain the sparkling eyes she had when she first embarked on a journey at the age of 23, and set off again soon!
